  • Dark Horses

Never quite understood that phrase, but anywho (sorry Dawk20) , on to what I wanted to say or show.

My dark horse for SAM: Mr. Greg Richmond

My dark horse for comeback player of the year: Mr. Jerome McDougle (not McDougal)

My dark horse training camp cut: Mr. Jeremy Bloom (*Ducks, looking around for Swing on This nervously*)

My dark horse for defensive rookie of the year: Mr. Broderick Bunkley (Can he be any bigger?)

Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

I get royalty checks every time someone uses my "anywho" copyright. Thanks for contributing!

will be interesting to see all of them. I'm also intrigued by what Tapeh can bring.

Here is one I have yet to figure out. Does this guy look like someone who almost set the bench press record to you?

8 more posts and I am no longer a rookie beyotch. Thes next 8 may really suck. I just want to get there

I'd be rather shocked right now by Bloom. Maybe if the Eagles tried to stach him on the PS and lost him.......nah, not gonna happen. My surprise camp cut is....Greg Lewis.

Gimme your addition of the year, either by draft or FA,VFK.

        Dark horses:

        1) To win a bigger role, and be the big back in the 3 headed monster 2.0 is Perry.

        2) Of the rookie free agents, I like the Nordgren kid to make the practice squad (I think he has more raw potential in the NFL in terms of upside then Chang).

3)Of the rookie free agents to make the team, the center from new Mexico that runs 350.

        4) To stand out a little in camp, and earn a spot on the 53 man, Ramsey.

5). And finally, to SHUT UP the WIP crowd, I like Matt McCoy as a dark horse to play STUDLY as a Will with his 4.65 speed and new guns he found at the Novacare this offseason.

McCoy and Perry are good calls JRJ....I likey...

Fresh, dark horse for addition of the year is Matt Schobel: I think the 2 TE attack is going to help us alot and he will do some damage...

And just because I mentioned it earlier, here is the picture of Bucky's incredible leap in that Miami MNF game in 2003...

Good pull on Schoebel. That's who I had in mind as well.

And not sure how much of a dark horse he really is....but I think this is going to be the year of Ryan Moats. I think he's going to come on the scene big time.

Bruce Perry? As the big back? Hasn't Bruce been injured like every year of his career going back to Maryland.

I already have Giant fan friends (well, acquaintances) that think Moats is the sh!t, based on that one game last year. I would love for them to be right!

Moats has been my guy since last years TC. (bow legs and all)

The guy is just a football player!

And Bunkley is going to be a beast------ which in turn makes Howard the Howard of old------ which makes Kearse--------- the freak again.

                    Dark Horse

                    5. Reggie Brown- He might not be an unkown to us Iggle fans, but there is not one outsider expecting any of our receivers to be productive.

                    4. Darwin Walker- With all of the attention given to the DE's and the quick young DT's, Darwin will be destroying guards and grabbing QB's who were hoping to escape the blitz by stepping up......into Walker.

                    3. Moats- The only reason he didn't get more opportunities was because of his inability to learn the blitz pickups. He has had a full year to learn this important part of the game. Andy will have a hard time keeping him and Westy off the field at the same time.

                    2. Jerome McDougle- He should know the system by now and he has had two years of resting his body (except his groin area). He looks hugh right now and has to excited about playing again. With all the attention to everyone else on this team, he is going to slip under the radar late in games and deliver a few more highlight "Eli's".

                    1. Marty M.- This guy does know how to coach an offense and the biggest change he will bring to our O is RUNNING THE BALL. Nobody is expecting him to be as good as Childress, but I think his changes to the O will be very refreshing and will be difficult for the opposition to figure out. Normally AR would take total control of the O, but after his recent problems of keeping it balanced, he has to know that he has to let Marty run it.

Oh damn, VFK, you just had to post that Bucky picture. DAMN I loved that guy. He was 'my' guy on the Eagles during the Reid era. He could have been something special.

FWI, everything I have heard was that it was Childress who was always trying to get Andy to run more and Marty Morningwood wanted to pass.

That's interesting because they were a pass oriented team way before Marty arrived. Marty had nothing to do with game day calls, that was entirely Andy. Marty had top ranked running teams in the past. From what I've read, even Andy admits that Andy called too many passes, so it would be weird for Marty or anyone to ever call for more passes.....unless he is a total butt kisser.

The most sucessful season we've had on the ground was the year of the three headed monster. My dark horse, if you will, is a return to something similar, with Westbrook, Moats, and either Perry or Buckhalter sharing the workload for the season.

With smallish guys like Westbrook and Moats, and oft injured guys like Perry and Buckhalter, it makes sense to spread it around, keep everyone fresh, and not have to rely on any one guy to carry it 20-30 times a game.

Well there were rumors that he is an Andy Reid Yes-man.

He also had as much power in the playcalling as Childress at least since last year. The scenario as it played out usually involved both Childress and Marty suggesting a play to Reid who would chose which play he wanted. He would then tell Marty the play who would relay it to McNabb.
