As for the compensation pick from the METS for Billy Wagner - we drafted Adrian Cardenas, a 6-foot, 185-pound shortstop from Monsignor Edward Pace H.S., in Miami Lakes, Fla.
A left-handed hitter, Cardenas played shortstop in high school but will be moved to second base. This spring, Cardenas hit .630 in 108 at-bats. He had 16 doubles, 17 homers, 56 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
My prediction is you never in your life see Cardenas in a Phillies uniform at the Major League Level. I don't know why Major League teams waste high picks on frail High School middle infielders. Baffling. So hard to project. The first 5 rounds should be PITCHING, PITCHING AND MORE PITCHING.
