The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed defensive tackle Tim Jernigan to a one-year contract, according to an official announcement from the team. It remains to be seen how much the deal is worth.

The Eagles predictably declined to pick up Jernigan’s 2019 option earlier this offseason. He seemingly failed to receive strong interest in free agency, which isn’t surprising considering he only played 45 snaps in 2018.

The Eagles originally envisioned Jernigan as a key contributor to their defense after they traded for him in 2017 and signed him to a multi-year contract extension. Expectations changed when Jernigan suffered a potential career-ending back injury during the 2018 offseason. Jernigan began the 2018 season on the reserve/non-football injury list and wasn’t activated to the 53-man roster until Week 12.

It’s unclear how much the Eagles are counting on Jernigan to contribute in 2019. When healthy, he has the potential to be a pretty good player on this defense. But exactly how healthy is he?

Deep team, they hit some home runs this weekend and we could be nasty
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

They are a deep payoff team as they sit today (Pending Wentz health). By this weekend they should be a true Super Bowl Contender

This one was a real surprise. A pleasant one though.

Love it! Wish I had time to scrap all the DTs I had in my draft guesses though. Lol
