PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles are in relatively good shape health-wise after one week of training camp, though there is still a large chunk of important players on the roster (especially on defense) who are not yet full practice participants.

Some are closer to returning to team drills (and game action) than others, but there is a lot to sort through.

Here are 3 Philadelphia Eagles players who could be surprise cuts, and 3 who could sneak onto the 53-man roster

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a few surprises in training camp including wide receiver Carlton Agudosi, while tackle Jordan Mailata has been a disappointment.

Here’s a quick look at where the Eagles stand with some of their important, injured players:

RB Corey Clement (knee): Thursday, Clement participated in team drills — though only 7-on-7 — for the first time since suffering his knee injury on Dec. 9. The Eagles are still easing him back in, but he looks on track to return to full team drills (and possibly preseason action) soon enough. “No timetable on when he can come back,” coach Doug Pederson said on Thursday. “We have to get him -- we still have to get him ready. So 7 on 7 today was good for him just to get back into seeing live defenses, live route running. It was a good start for him today.”

RB Miles Sanders (foot): The rookie hurt his foot late in Thursday’s practice and left the field for the medical tent, though he returned to the sideline and Pederson didn’t sound too worried about him after practice. He received more evaluations on his foot, so his status will be better known on Saturday morning.

WR Mack Hollins (lower body): It’s been (another) strange training camp for Hollins. He was eased back into action at the start of camp in recovery from a weird groin injury, then suffered a different “lower body injury” last week that kept him out of action this week. It’s unclear when he’ll be ready to get back to full team drills, though Pederson indicated he could get back to 7-on-7 drills soon.

G Brandon Brooks (Achilles): He’s still only participating in 7-on-7 drills, though his chances of playing early in the season look much better now than they did before training camp. It wouldn’t be surprising if he skipped the preseason as his goal is focused on being ready for Week 1.

DT Fletcher Cox (foot): He’s been limited for the entirety of training camp and the Eagles are going to take it easy with their best player. He should be ready for the start of the season, if not much sooner. “He’s not trying to make the team,” defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said. “Let’s give him all the time in the world to be able to make sure he’s right ... He’s chomping at the bit. He wants to be out there. Sometimes discretion is the better side of valor. Whatever that quote is, just put that down.”

LB Nigel Bradham (toe): He’s been limited through camp, though he’s done some positional drills. Thursday he was working with the first-team linebackers at MIKE on some goal line drills. He had surgery after last season after he tore ligaments in his big toe. He told reporters recently that he’s unsure when he’ll be back.

LB Paul Worrilow (knee): The linebacker worked his way back from a knee injury and had participated early in training camp, but he missed most of the last week. Pederson called it “day to day” with the veteran linebacker and said “we’ll see where he’s at, but he’s doing well."

CB Ronald Darby (knee): He seems to be making good progress from the serious knee injury he suffered only in November. The Eagles are taking it easy with him, limiting him to individual drills, but he looks good running (while wearing a knee brace, mind you) and probably won’t do team drills for at least a little while longer. Darby said recently he’s unsure when he’d be cleared to be full-go.

CB Jalen Mills (foot): He’s still on the PUP list and will remain there until he shows any signs of being able to participate in practice coming off a foot injury (and surgery) he had last season. His status for the start of the season is in serious question.

CB Cre’Von LeBlanc (foot): Initial reports indicated LeBlanc would be back for Week 1, but it seems that might not have been the case. An NBC Sports Philadelphia report on Friday said that he could be out anywhere from 1-3 more months from a foot injury he suffered on the first day of training camp. That could mean a potential visit to injured reserve at the start of the season with designation to return, meaning he could return, at the earliest, in Week 9.

S Rodney McLeod (knee): He’s been wearing a massive knee brace and has only done individual drills thus far. His goal is to play in Week 3 of the preseason. His slow recovery, though, could be one reason why the Eagles signed safety Johnathan Cyprien on Friday.

Johnathan Cyprien also coming off of ACL surgery.

    And now this......

By Zack Rosenblatt | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles came out for practice and there was a light breeze in the air, a brief reprieve from the scalding heat and humidity that has overtaken NovaCare Complex for the last week.
That moment of solace was short-lived. The sun came back out, and the Eagles might’ve lost one of their stars of training camp to an injury.
On a day of live-hitting, linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill was carted to the medical tent after the 25-year-old made a tackle on running back Jordan Howard. Grugier-Hill was helped up, limped off the field and got onto the cart. He walked into the building from the medical tent on his own volition.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson didn’t have much of an update after practice
More on the injury and its potential impact in this breakdown, but suffice to say any prolonged absence for him would be a major loss.

    1. Missing Kamu: Not to overstate things, but the Eagles should be hoping and praying that Grugier-Hill’s injury isn’t serious. First, he’s easily been the Eagles’ best linebacker in training camp, excelling in all areas of responsibility, namely playmaking. He’s had a handful of PBUs at the line of scrimmage against Carson Wentz, including in goal line drills on Saturday. With Nigel Bradham out, he looked ready to step up and even challenge Bradham for that No. 1 linebacker role. Now if he misses significant time, the Eagles linebacker group becomes a problem area.

“He’s really coming into his own and he’s obviously getting those first-team reps at linebacker and is an important special teams player for us,” Pederson said after practice. “Really excited about him and what he brings to our football team. He’s a young player that’s now starting to really gro winto his role. He’s been good all of camp.”

A prolonged absence for Grugier-Hill would leave three veteran linebackers all hurt heading into the first preseason game: Bradham, Grugier-Hill and Paul Worrilow. Zach Brown has had a bad camp, L.J. Fort has never been a full-time starter on defense, and ideally players like Nate Gerry or undrafted rookie T.J. Edwards don’t have to receive significant snaps. The signing of safety/linebacker hybrid Johnathan Cyprien might look even smarter now, especially if he’s viewed as a linebacker.
