  • Leon Russell died yesterday.

Russell, with funky nasal Southern drawl and magical way with the piano, was one of my favorite male vocalists (along with Jackson Browne, Freddie Mercury and Eddie Vedder).

Like so many that have gone this past year, Leon Russell was too young. At 74 he was 5 months younger than me and I'm still a damn kid!

Leon gave us so many memorable songs. His "A Song for You" is absolute butta but my favorite was a recording he did of "Wild Horses".

    Rest In Peace sweet Leon.

I remember Leon Russell best from Joe Cocker's great album "Mad Dogs and Englishmen." Yes, young guys like us are dying everyday! Getting scary!

He didn't have the benefit of being an eagles fan. Getting disappointed all the time builds your immunity. We're gonna live till at least 107.

I think you deduct years from your lifespan if you're an Eagles fan.
