  • Health Care Crap

Another Washington mess. I'm of the opinion that there should be a health plan that every American should have access to. If your employer doesn't provide one we have to have something for others. It's not their fault their employer cheeps out and won't provide it. I don't even think that Walmart provides it!!! Some may disagree with me here.

Anyway Washington again is doing it's best to once again turn it into a political football. Why can't they EVER do something that's right for the country and put their partisan views aside? I mean these guys can't even agree on what the heck to call it. Affordable Health Care Act, Obama Care, Obama Care light is the new one. Why do they INSIST ON REPEAL AND REPLACE???? How about FIX AND IMPROVE!!! The friekin Republicans can't even agree themselves what to put in it. Why does it have to have a new name? Don't they understand that these are peoples' lives that they are playing with? Why can't they just make the needed changes to what they have now and call it a day? No, they always have to prove the other party wrong. There will be no cooperation from the Democrats even though national healthcare was their idea in the first place. Politics suck. Oh yeah, the answer is always that you can vote them out. For what? To replace them with another politician that will also vote their party's stance? None of these people give a crap about you, me and the good of the country. We're all just pawns in their game.

Can't disagree with your take on politics 60. Healthcare is another GIANT can of worms that could be handled with cooperation among politicians but they will splooge it up. We have so much money in this country that there should not be near as many problems as we have.

The pertinent disputes at this point really don't involve the Democrats. It's more a circular firing squad within the Republican's ranks as they try to cobble something together that will both satisfy the crazies on the extreme right, who down deep believe we would be better off if those who can't afford health insurance in a 'free market' would have the common decency to simply go off and die, without alienating a significant portion of the Trump base (the elderly and "working poor") by making damaging cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.

But whatever the outcome, we can all take pride and comfort in knowing that the US is one of only two of the World's 25 wealthiest countries that does not provide universal health care to it's citizens.

Saudi Arabia, that bastion of enlightenment in the Middle East where they're still stoning women to death for adultery, is the other.

Far too much in politics is based on don't let the other guy succeed because people may come to support that guy. Better to have everything suck than to let the other guy look good. Repubs fought Obama for years and didn't do a thing to help fix anything to make it better. Dems could work with Trump (or congress) now to fix things but they will fight tooth and nail.

My diehard Democratic best says that we should have an Impendent party. I told him that two parties can't get along with each other and now you want to have three? On top of that how can you have an Independent party if you are independent? Now you are contradicting yourself. I wonder how these parties ever began in the first place? Did the poor people just say screw you to the rich guys and form one? I guess that I'll try to research that today. Then again maybe I'll wait until tomorrow because it will take a week to dig out from the mess that's coming in.

60 a lot of this started with welfare, IMM. People decided that the federal government was "responsible" for people. They aren't! The point of the Federal Government was never to be responsible for everyone's well being, and to make sure everybody got everything equally.

Welfare started this slippery slope. We live in a republic not a socialistic/communist state.

But since Welfare and this increased PC'ness -- that somehow the Federal government and all of "us" "OWE" everyone. We do not OWE every kid a free college education, we do not OWE everyone a free health care system, we do not "OWE" people welfare. We do not OWE people the right to come to this country, without restraints.

Politics and politicians suck donkey balls right now, because politicians get into the business for the wrong reasons now, and people expectations of what government should and shouldn't do "FOR" them has greatly changed.

One (Not the only) of the reasons religion and government should have been keep separated-- government was never meant to be in the charity business.

And quite frankly I think that is one of the reasons Trump found a way to win, even though he isn't very likable, the middle are very tired of the "system".

Somehow "relief" turned into "welfare". I'm certainly not abject to helping people who are down and out until they get back on their feet or even for extended periods of time. That's why we all pay taxes to take care of people when they need it. I certainly object to having it a way of life and for some woman to just spread her flippers to get more money each month having 5 kids by 5 different fathers. If people need help with health care I'm all in favor of that too as long as they are making a decent effort on their own to get by. I realize that everyone doesn't have the same advantages as the rest of us. I'm definitely not a heartless Republican that says 'I got mine so you go out and get yours". I'm just not wired like that. As far as Trump goes I like the fact that he tells it like it is. People say that he's not "Presidential enough". I say good for him, I'm tired of these smiley faced bastards stroking me while they've got their hand in my pocket ripping me off. If that's what some people want than don't complain when you do get ripped off. I just can't believe how naïve most people are. I'm going with my view that you certainly don't have to like someone for them to be a good leader. He's getting some things done that I like even though he communicates his policies pretty much like a moron. This is no beauty contest. He had better get his act together on this healthcare plan though. If he doesn't he loses me.

This healthcare thing is really out of control. I think Trump's proposal is very good. I keep hearing about how every country on earth has "free healthcare" and I just laugh. I've seen the light on this issue. NOTHING is free. Sure you can have free healthcare if you raise taxes 20% or more. Cuba has "free" healthcare and the people live on $400 a month. In Germany 7% of your salary goes to healthcare and your company picks up the rest. That sounds pretty much like our system when you get down to it. I think Trump is just throwing healthcare back to the states and have the poor covered by Medicare which is also mostly funded by the Feds. It is also the best insurance money can buy in our state!! You can have anything that you want if we go socialist and pay over 50% tax like these other countries. I'm really getting sick of this crap. I feel like deleting a lot of my earlier post. I guess that it really doesn't effect me in out state and it shouldn't in others either.

Unfortunately 60 it impacts everyone in the country. That is why it would be nice for them to do it in the best interest of the country not of themselves. Trump's plan is good if he would let them tweak it, Obama's plan was good if he would've let them tweak it, the house plan is good if they would tweak it. Like anything we can have whatever we want in this country if people would work together

Gotta agree with you Nodak. It is an immensely huge undertaking, and people need to understand that it will never ever for eternity, please everyone.

And of course I want people to have access to health care, but I'm not sure why people feel that the government (all of us) need to be responsible to see that every man woman and child here in this country, legal and illegal, gets full coverage.

I think the Ryan/Trump bill is a start but it does need to be tweaked and frankly I think it will be (already has to some degree) and the Senate will have some tweaks -- but in the end it will HAVE to pass cause if it doesn't Obamacare is about ready to kill this country in a slow agonizing death.

From what I understand -- a big problem is that some people still refuse to sign up for Medicaid and this is where these numbers come from that would show as millions "not covered", but frankly I see that as their problem not mine.

Also, not sure I would grant health care or education to Illegal aliens-- I am a strong law and order guy, but that is a whole other issue.

Health care is a very tough problem to fix!!!!!!!!

So taking it for free from the Feds is classier than taking it from Medicaid? Makes perfect sense to me.

Has nothing to do with class--- if these people had class would they need Government handouts in the first place?

Look, IMM, lazy people are just that-- lazy people, and if the Government does not only give them something they must give it to them without them doing anything to get it.

Well, they did F' that up, but I can't blame Trump. It is those asshole freedom caucus that refused to compromise. They had 8 years to work this out, talk about political stagnation.

Well, now let us and the Dem's see what Obamacare is all about.

                            Assholes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A-holes is right. But Trump trying to put this on the dems isn't right either. Dems didn't get any republican support when doing Obamacare and there has been absolutely no help fixing things during the seven years it has been in place but he thought he should get help form them in this vote--crazy. House voted a million times (only because I forget the real number) over the last 5 or 6 years to repeal -not fix- and now they can't get that vote? And Trump says who knew healthcare could be so difficult? Umm how about everyone except you. This isn't on Trump in my opinion and it isn't on the dems. It is solely on the house and the freedom caucus in particular.
I've said many times that it is the inability of congress to work together esp the far left and far right that is a national problem. I remember that Obama could have had immigration reform a few years back BUT THEY HELD OUT for a path to citizenship and it all fell apart. We just saw that with healthcare although I expect healthcare to be back on the table sometime in the near future
