Default Question for the board

I am rewatching the Eagles-Vikings NFCC game and I can’t help, but be impressed by Ajayi. He is still available. It is also the end of May and Sproles seems to be leaning towards returning one more time. The question: would you sign one or maybe both if you were Howie?

I know we have a full compliment of backs right now, but I would still try to bring them both in for camp. If they are both healthy our backs this year would include Clement, Howard, Sanders, Ajayi and Sproles. Talk about a killer platoon! That depth would allow both Ajayi and Sproles to take off every other game or every third game and help keep them healthy. I don’t know what Sproles is looking for contract wise but Ajayi would be a pretty cheap deal. I would definitely kick the tires on them in camp and see if we can make this work.

Myself....no. I just think those guys provided the birds what they needed at the time but you have to move on at some point. Maybe his knee is 100% or maybe not. If Clement is healthy, and I know no more than anyone else, they are in good shape. He surely isn't a star but Smallwood isn't a bad #4. Specifically because he has been around the team so he knows the program and does a pretty good job picking up a blitzer.
If I am Doug and I am concerned about the return game I might kick the tires on Sproles but otherwise I am ready to move on

I really am an Ajayi fan Juk. I guess that his knees have teams turned off. Good back and teammate.

Me too 60. I think a healthy Ajayi would be the best back on this team (Sanders is going to have to prove it to me). I would love to fit him in if all the other teams pass on him. But, I just don't see any way possible, unless he is a FA and we have major injuries later on.

I also love me some Sproles and would love to see him back 1 more time.

Sign them all..... sort it out in camp. Been saying it all along....... bring in as much talent as you can. See who is healthy and who isn’t... see who wants it and who doesn’t...... see who stays healthy ..... should not even be a question or a debate, IMM.

The question is would Ajayi be healthy enough to compete in training camp? I don't think with that torn knee he will be. He seems like a guy who will be picked up by a team that has an injury once the season starts and he is closer to healthy.

I don’t think Ajayi can take the pounding and has lost a step probably with yet another knee injury. Go younger and healthier.

For a 1 year vet minimum “prove it” deal I’d take a chance on him.

I'd be ok with a 1yr deal with Ajayi but Sproles I hate to say should retire. Great player but nobody beats Father Time.

I agree J, it’s time for Sproles to go. If we lose someone during the season I’d bring back Ajayi though. He’s a heck of a talent if he can go. Any changes in the offense he would pick up very quickly because he's such a bright guy.
