Keith Richards

Not that I think he's the best. But he's definitely on the list.

Isn't it the other guy who is playing all the best riffs?

Which other guy? Mick Taylor? Great guitar player. But Richards is a rock god and arguably the greatest rhythm guitar player in rock n' roll history. Scores extra points for writing practically every Rolling Stone song, too.

eric clapton has to be THE most over-rated guitar player of all time. all one has to do is simply put on the Derek & the Dominos Layla album to hear him play next to a true guitar master, Duane Allman. The 1st three songs are without Allman, but then once Allman kicks in, there is just not a comparison -- Duane Allman blows Clapton out of the water... and Clapton knew it as that is the reason Duane gets more solos on the album.

my list of jazz guitar greats:
John Scofield
Wes Montgomery
Grant Green
Stanley Jordan (i don't like his taste in music, but he is the most talented guitarist i have ever seen or heard, rock, jazz or blues)
John McLaughlin

my list of rock guitar greats:
Duane Allman (oh, what could have been)
Jimi Hendrix (oh, what could have been, pt. 2)
Trey Anastasio
Jerry Garcia
Frank Zappa
Dean Ween (AKA Mickey Melchiondo)
Eddie Hazel (most overlooked rock guitarist)
