Stoutland needs a lifetime contract. Castillo and Mudd were decent coaches, but Stoutland is otherworldly. We always have quality back ups since he joined the team along with All Pro starters.

and perhaps Roy Istvan, assistant offensive line coach needs some props too. His history shows him as a successful line coach as well.

    ROY ISTVAN
    TITLE Offensive Coordinator
    EMAIL [email protected]
Recruiting Areas: Florida, New England, New York (New York City, Long Island)

Roy Istvan was named the team's Offensive Coordinator and offensive line coach in February of 2014 and will be entering his third season on the Big Red sidelines. He joined the Cornell coaching staff after six seasons at Rhode Island, including the final three as the program's offensive coordinator.

His offense, in its first season following the graduation of All-America quarterback Jeff Mathews, was significantly more balanced than much of the previous decade. Running back Luke Hagy ran for more than 100 yards in each of the team’s final three games as the team nearly doubled its rushing total over 2013. Hagy earned second team All-Ivy honors, while offensive lineman Zach Wilk was an honorable mention pick. Despite having to play four different quarterbacks during the year, the group compiled 16 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions, a total of 1,912 passing yards and 52 percent completions.

Year two saw first downs increase, sacks allowed decrease and nearly every other marker improve - the team's rushing, passing and total offense yardage all improved, its yards per play boosted by a half-yard per snap and its conversion percentage on both third and fourth downs increased. The balance was demonstrated by first-team All-Ivy League running back Luke Hagy, the focal point of the offense. Hagy became the first player in Ivy history to surpass 2,000 career rushing and 1,500 career receiving yards.

Istvan has extensive experience at Rhode Island, where he was the offensive line coach all six seasons in Kingston, and previously coached at Buffalo (2001-05) as the running game and offensive coordinator, at Milford Academy (2006-07 as offensive coordinator) and at his alma mater, Southern Connecticut State (1990-2001).

His experiences at the BCS, FCS and Division II levels, as well as prep school and even one year at an athlete management firm (Sportstars INC. in 2007) have helped him work with players at nearly every stage of their development. Among the players Istvan has worked with during his coaching career are 2013 NFL rushing leader LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles), Tony Ugoh (Indianapolis Colts) and Jason Foster (Oakland Raiders), as well as former New England Patriots offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi.

At Rhode Island, his teams showed marked improvements in sacks allowed, total yards, passing yards, rushing yards and scoring offense over the season prior to him taking over, and players at every position earned all-conference honors. In his final three seasons at URI, five offensive linemen were named to all-CAA teams.

While coaching at Buffalo, Istvan's teams set program records for most rushing touchdowns and fewest sacks allowed since the program moved to Division I. During his 11 seasons at Southern Connecticut State, the Owls set 53 school offensive records and posted a 67-45 record.

A 1990 graduate of SCSU, Istvan and his wife, Kristin, have three children - Jaylin and twins Kambria and Zachariah.

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
