  • Disturbing statistic..

This is getting to be a habit, and a bad one. In every game, except GB, where the Eagles kick off, they allow the other team to drive down the field, and score points. Look at these drive charts..

    HOU...
Houston Texans at 15:00, (1st play from scrimmage 14:53)
    1-10-HST 23 (14:53) 33-W.Lundy right guard to HST 24 for 1 yard (98-M.Patterson).
    2-9-HST 24 (14:1 8-D.Carr pass short right to 43-J.Cook to HST 24 for no gain (54-J.Trotter).
    3-9-HST 24 (13:3 6) 8-D.Carr pass short right to 88-J.Putzier to 50 for 26 yards (37-S.Considine). P1
    1-10-50 (12:59) 8-D.Carr pass short middle to 84-E.Moulds to PHI 39 for 11 yards (24-S.Brown, 54-J.Trotter). P2

In the other games, we received the kick off. I don't know WTF the problem is here, but this is one problem that needs to be corrected. You can't keep giving up points on the opening drive every game. That's ridiculous.

This was mentioned on the game day thread but I didn't bother to look it up. In any case, this is a very bad trend. It means that with all the preparation the Eagles do, they come out very flat in ball games on the defensive side of the ball.

You know what? I expected a letdown yesterday, got a letdown... and yet this team scares me. I called St Louis the biggest 4-1 fraud in the league. Maybe we're the frauds...

I was the one that mentioned it, and I was curious so I took a look at the gamebooks. I was also interested in getting our 4th quarter defensive statistics, but I was afraid of what I might find.

This is clearly not a playoff caliber defense right now. I just hope they can right the ship.

our defense is now 25th in total defense including 27th against the pass. it makes complete sense to me.

True MD, but that does not change the fact that the defense is playing poorly. Our record is what it is, but I'd kind of like to win a championship.

Unless they get these defensive issues worked out, that ain't gonna happen this year.

If this were 2004, I'd say, "Bench Simoneau and make Trotter a starter already!" Yep, they've got some work to do.

It beats being hyper worried about injuries. Sorta.

This along with alot of other stats are proving just how bad this defense is. Its a one trick pony, if a team desides to do 5 and 7 step drops they can get alot of pressure on those QB's. Otherwise they stink.

Also this stat here stinks of poor preparation and that is on the Genius Jim Johnson
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

Wow, I didn't know we were that low

I am willing to risk more big plays against us, but the defense has to get more agressive and get off the field.

Here is what I think is happening. JJ trusts in the offense, so he plays not to lose on defense.

Kearse is gone and that hurts. They have nice depth on the DL. But, it is not like the DL is now filled with proven studs with a big reputation (maybe Howard). It's time for JJ to get more creative with his blitz packages.

I have a feeling that we will see a very aggressive defense this week in Tampa.
