  • (OT) Today in sports history...

    http://blog.sportscolumn.com/story/2006 ... 166/66041/

The USFL goes out of business. You know, looking back on it, it was such a rinky dink league and the logos were so UGLY but I have always had a fond place in my heart for the USFL. Hell, the Philadelphia Stars were the last major sport team to win a championship! (Sad, I know)

Didn't Reggie waste a couple years in that league? He could have started accumulating some more NFL sacks and still have the record (no offense to Deacon Jones).

I loved USFL! Kelvin Bryant, Sam Mills, UpChuck Fusina, Jim Mora Sr. The Stars, Gamblers, Stallions, Breakers. I still can't belive they were awarded $1.

Reggie White was with the Memphis Showboats I believe.

I remember HATING (and fearing) the NJ Generals. I believe Hershel played for the Generals.

They had the big college names. Flutie was the QB.

The Michigan Panthers, and specifically Bobby Hebert and Anthony Carter, were the only things standing between the Stars and a clean sweep of USFL titles.
