TORONTO - Kyle Drabek is in the fold.
The Phillies' first-round draft pick agreed to a $1.55 million signing bonus late Saturday night and is expected to begin working out at the team's minor-league facility in Clearwater, Fla., on Thursday.
Phils scouting director Marti Woleverconfirmed the agreement yesterday. The deal may not be officially announced until Wednesday in the 18-year-old pitcher's hometown of Houston.
"We're happy to get him done and get him on his way," Wolever said.
Drabek, the son of 1990 National League Cy Young winner Doug Drabek, is a righthander with two dominant pitches: a fastball that has touched 97 m.p.h. and a hard, downward-breaking curveball.
The Phillies have reached agreements with their top 15 picks from last month's draft.
