  • Eagles burned on same play 2 years in a row

Casey Matthews was asked about this after the game, and admitted he didn't remember seeing this play at all during the week leading up to the Giants game. If true, shame on the Eagles.

There's a play from the Redskins game last year (game 1) where we got burned by the TE on the left side leaking out. I think you guys know which one. I expect to see that one again.

You know who didn't get burned on that play when the Giants tried it later in the game with Hynoski? The little ball of hate, Brian Rolle, who was running step for step with him in coverage. That man is a straight-up nasty football player.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

But Rolle can't be any good!

He wasn't a cagey 4th round reach that took everyone by surprise and was then handed a starting job because he is 'mature beyond his years', has a brother who's All Pro, and has really, really long hair.

In the history of Philly sports, have we ever gotten the good brother? Seriously. Anyone?

I can think of a couple which might surprise people:

Richie Allen - Brother was Head Coach George Allen of Washington Redskins (who had undergone the patented Micheal Jackson Undetectable Skin Whitening Process)

Ken Brett - While brother George may have gotten more media attention and be better remembered, Ken never did anything to upset Mr Steinbrenner and is therefore a much 'gooder' person.

Reno Mahe - While Reno may have to wait 2 or 3 years to gain the HOF, he is actually the best of the famous (in Hawaii) football playing Mahe Brothers. His older brother, Vegas Mahe, was a RB in the CFL for 11 remarkable seasons. He holds a special place in CFL lore that will stand the test of time. In 11 seasons, Vegas rushed the ball 857 times and never gained a yard. Reno also has a younger brother named Montecarlo Mahe, who, though 28 years old, is so petite that with the aid of multiple fake birth certificates has just entered his 19th season of Pop Warner Football. A triple threat RB/WR/K&P returner, in 19 years Monte has never gained a yard, caught a pass or fielded a punt or KO cleanly.

So, when you think about it, we got that goin' for us!

Well, no. He was a cagey 6th round undersized linebacker, our favorite type of pick, and of course had the NFL pedigree (cousin to Antrel Rolle, Samari Rolle, and Chad 85).

NFP-How Jacobs Beat Eagles LBs On rail Route: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...ail-route.html

                        An excerpt:
Run-Pass keys: Why is Matthews late to react to Jacobs in this route scheme? Poor run-pass keys at the line of scrimmage. Check out the LT for the Giants. That is what I call a “High-Hat” read—and it shows pass all the way.

Perhaps the elevation of Rolle to the starting lineup will reduce the chances of the RB wheel route yielding the big play like last week.
