76ers pick up option on G Salmons

    October 28, 2004
PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Guard John Salmons had his fourth-year option exercised by the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, keeping him with the club through the 2005-06 season.

Per terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the option for Salmons is worth $1.67 million. He will make $925,680 this year.

Last season, the 6-7 Salmons appeared in 77 games - making 24 starts - for the struggling 76ers, averaging 6.2 points and 2.5 rebounds.

A first-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs in 2002, Salmons was acquired by Philadelphia along with Mark Bryant and the draft rights to Randy Holcomb in exchange for Speedy Claxton in a draft-night trade.

In 141 career games with the 76ers, the former Miami Hurricane has averaged 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
