Update on the Eagles’ injury situation at the start of training camp

    Taking stock.

    By Brandon Lee Gowton@BrandonGowton Jul 25, 2019, 3:24pm EDT

Here’s an update where the Philadelphia Eagles stand following the team’s first training camp practice. There are a number of new developments from when the team last practiced in mid-June.

    FULL PARTICIPATION
    CARSON WENTZ

Doug Pederson told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio that the Eagles will manage Wentz’s camp workload “a little bit.” After practice, Pederson downplayed concerns about Wentz’s status by noting all quarterbacks will be monitored so their arms aren’t being overworked. Pederson said Wentz could play in a game if there was one today and Wentz said as much. Wentz has been a full participant in spring and summer drills to this point.

    MILES SANDERS

Sanders missed the entirety of spring practices with a hamstring issue but he fully participated on Thursday.

    NELSON AGHOLOR

Agholor missed some spring practices but he was full go today.

    MACK HOLLINS

Hollins missed all of OTAs but did some wide receiver drills in minicamp. He was back doing team drills today, which is great for him.

    JOSH ADAMS

Adams missed all of spring practice but he was full go today.

    PAUL WORRILOW

Worrilow was limited at times in the spring but he was full go today.

    LIMITED PARTICIPATION
    BRANDON BROOKS

There was thought that Brooks would begin training camp on the active/PUP list but that wasn’t the case. This development shows the Eagles are feeling good about his chances to play as early as Week 1 despite suffering an Achilles injury in January. Brooks didn’t participate in full team drills on Thursday but he did some position work.

    RONALD DARBY

Darby was reportedly expected to start camp on the active/PUP list but that didn’t happen. As is the case with Brooks, Darby should be on track to play early in the season. Darby did not participate in full team drills but he did warm up with the team.

    FLETCHER COX

Cox is still working his way back from the foot injury he suffered in January. He warmed up with the team before doing conditioning drills on a side field. No team drills yet.

    DEREK BARNETT

After missing all of OTAs and minicamp, Barnett warmed up with the team before doing conditioning drills on a side field. Still coming back from his shoulder injury.

    NIGEL BRADHAM

Bradham warmed up with the team before doing conditioning drills on a side field.. He told reporters he had surgery on torn ligaments in his big toe following the Saints game in January.

    RODNEY MCLEOD

McLeod is still recovering from a 2018 knee issue. He was working on a side field while the rest of the team was warming up.

    COREY CLEMENT

Clement is still recovering from a 2018 knee issue. He was working on a side field while the rest of the team was warming up.

    PUP LIST
    JALEN MILLS

The Eagles placed Mills on the active/Physically Unable to Perform list prior to practice. He still counts towards the 90-man roster but putting him on this list means he’s eligible for the regular season “reserve/PUP” list. Mills, who is recovering from some kind of foot injury, can be activated at any point and there’s some talk he could be ready to return later in the summer. But the fact he’s on active/PUP means the Eagles are at least considering a scenario where he’d have to miss at least the first six weeks of the 2019 season. Mills did do some rehab work on a side field near the start of practice. First time all offseason he’s been seen doing that.

Overall, the Eagles are in better shape than expected. They still have a number of guys who need to get healthy but we should see some of them return soon as camp progresses. It’s not like anyone is so far off that they can’t even do any kind of conditioning or rehab work.

Only one on PUP. The rest should be ready (Brooks is the one I have the most doubt about though).

Yes, losing a pro bowl mauler like him is big hit for sure! Also how healthy is Clements? If he comes back without his big play ability like he lost last year he's just another guy.
