Howie reworks Brooks for Cap space
    x

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to create some cap space in time for the 2018 season, reworking Brandon Brooks contract for some financial relief.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Eagles converted $745,588 of Brooks' remaining base salary to a signing bonus. The Eagles converted his base salary rate to the league minimum to create $559,191 in cap space.
Most of Brooks' 2017 base salary ($5 million) has been paid, so the $745,588 would be his paycheck over the final two games. Brooks is owed $23.75 in base salary over the next three years of his deal and $30.35 million total. Philadelphia could rework more of Brooks' deal the offseason in an attempt to create more cap space.
The Eagles are 12-2 and a a win away from home-field advantage! Make sure to stay in the loop for all Eagles news this year -- take five seconds to sign up for our FREE Eagles newsletter now!
The Eagles have 20 of their 22 starters signed for the 208 season, with LeGarrette Blount and Nigel Bradham the lone free agents.
Philadelphia now has $1,335,264 in available salary cap space.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
