I wasn't suggesting that we make it our #1 priority in the draft but rather that we really need one. I'm still a BPA guy regardless of position. I doubt that we're going to be drafting a star where we are picking but putting pressure on the passer is paramount to have a great team.

I still hold out hope that Jackson is who we thought he was.... and that by itself improves the DL.... and the rotation.

Andre Dillard's first year was 'an incredible learning experience'

With his rookie season in the books, tackle Andre Dillard has his sights set on the role he will play in the 2020 season.

The Washington State product saw action in all 17 games (including playoffs) this year, while making four starts – three at left tackle and one at right tackle. He was called into significant action when six-time All-Pro tackle Jason Peters went down with a knee injury in the Week 6 matchup against the Vikings. Dillard is grateful for the small taste he got of what it's like to start in the National Football League.

"I'm really glad I got those chances because that was what I was brought in to do in the future," Dillard said. "It helped me get my feet wet a little bit and it really helped me gauge what it's like being out there on the big stage."

The future is quickly approaching. With Peters' contract expiring this year, the left tackle position for the 2020 season is currently unsettled. If Dillard is called upon to fill that role, head coach Doug Pederson believes the first-round draft pick can deliver.

"That's why we drafted him," Pederson said. "We have total confidence in Andre. He is a tremendous athlete. He's smart. We have a lot of confidence in him."

Dillard saw 346 snaps on offense this season, but more importantly, he was able to witness a stellar offensive line firsthand. With over 44 years of NFL experience combined, the 2019 Eagles starting line offered a plethora of advice and tips for the young tackle. This guidance from the veteran players and Dillard's physical growth have allowed him to elevate his play to a new level.

"I can't even describe it," Dillard said. "I've made my biggest jump, by far as a player. It has been an incredible learning experience."

The offseason is a time for mental and physical relaxation, and that is exactly what Dillard intends to do. Ever since the Eagles traded up three spots to select him in the 2019 draft, the 22nd overall pick has experienced the whirlwind that comes with being a first-round selection. As Dillard continues to work on his strength and technique this offseason, he will take the time to look back on the journey that brought him to Philadelphia.

"Breathe," Dillard said when asked what he will do this offseason. "Just take a minute to reflect for a little bit on everything that's happened since the end of my senior year. I haven't really got a chance to do that and be proud of myself and what I've done."
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Yeah I think that getting Jackson back is important as hell. The dude can play and would really free up Fletch.

That said I also want to see what Rush can do in year two, same with Miller, Sweat in year 3 etc.

I actually think we have some good useful rotational players on the line. What we really are missing is that game killing Defensive end. Like ironically Clowney.

I thought I heard that Berry wasn't going to Cleveland but then I heard a blurb on the radio that sounded like he is going. Anyone back there have better info?
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
            Hope is not a strategy

Much the same as the Frank Reich situation. Berry wasn't here that long so hopefully he won't be missed as much. However the issue here is we now have a second VP of Football Operations within 9 months. That really hurts a football operation. This hurts us going into Free Agency and the Draft as its very difficult this time of the year to bring in another VP of Football Operations. Howie may be the decision maker but so
Hopefully we can find a guy who can be here for a few years like Douglas was.

JMO, but I think the Birds have the organization set up so that if someone leaves they won't suffer a devastating hit. Someone else just steps into the roll and away we go. At least I hope that it works that way.

I would think that any GM of a decent team would be prepared in advance for anybody that's any good to move on.

Speculation on the OC spot: a new name to throw in...

                        News
Jon Embree Might be Ideal Fit as Eagles OC

"The Eagles didn’t wait all this time to hire Duce Staley as their offensive coordinator, did they?

It certainly would be a tough sell to fans at this point, and would feel like the Eagles were settling, even though Staley, currently the team’s running backs coach and assistant head coach, may be the perfect fit and would likely excel in the OC role.

Still, the perception would be that the Eagles failed to correctly read the offensive coordinator landscape. That they waited until the Super Bowl was over in hopes of landing Kansas City quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka or San Francisco 49ers pass game coordinator Mike LaFleur or 49ers run game coordinator Mike McDaniel.

There are reports that each of those three coaches will be blocked by their teams for interviewing for a job that isn’t considered a promotion, because the offensive coordinator’s under head coach Doug Pederson do not call plays.
                        Then what?

Well, here’s a longshot candidate: 49ers tight ends/assistant head coach Jon Embree.

Embree, 54, played tight end in college at the University of Colorado and was a sixth round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 1987 and helped develop some of the best in the game as a coach at both the college level and particularly at the pro level.

We should know this week who the much-debated next OC will be. We should also know this week who will fill the other three coaching vacancies...."
