Jaguars release former Eagles fan favorite wide receiver

    By Brandon Lee Gowton  @BrandonGowton on Aug 17, 2016, 3:18p 95

Remember Rasheed Bailey? Of course you do. He's the former Division III football Delaware Valley University wide receiver who became an Eagles fan favorite last summer. Unfortunately for Bailey, his dream of playing for his hometown team was not realized.

Instead, Bailey was waived during final cuts last year. He spent a week in the Canadian Football League before signing to the Jaguars' practice squad last October. He's been with Jacksonville ever since. That is ... until he was released earlier today.

So, should the Eagles have any interest in a reunion? The Eagles just traded for a new wide receiver, but the team is clearly far from set. It's still a position of major concern. Philadelphia can afford all the receiver help they can get right now.

Bailey showed some promise last summer by finishing with 10 catches for 100 yards and one touchdown reception. It's clear NFL teams aren't super high on his potential, but giving him another look couldn't hurt. It's not like Bailey got cut by a team hurting for receiver talent. The Jaguars have Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee, and Rashad Greene.

Then again, the likelihood of Bailey returning might not be very high. The Eagles have a completely new personnel department and coaching staff compared to the one that brought him to Philadelphia last year.

It'll be interesting to see where Bailey ends up, if anywhere at all.

Eagles put in waiver claim for former Eagles WR Rasheed Bailey

    By Dave Mangels  @Southern_Philly on Aug 19, 2016, 12:25p 80

The Philadelphia Eagles put in a waiver claim for former Eagle WR Rasheed Bailey, who was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, but lost out to the San Diego Chargers.

Eagle fans may remember Bailey, who is from Philadelphia, after a solid 2015 preseason where he caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, but didn't catch on with the team, being among the final cuts. Bailey signed with the BC Lions practice squad in early October, then to the Jaguars practice squad in late October, where he remained until being waived yesterday.

This attempted roster move is notable because it is at least the third time that the Eagles have tried to upgrade their paltry group of wide receivers this summer. In late July they attempted to sign Anquan Boldin, who ultimately signed with the Detroit Lions. Then on Tuesday they acquired Dorial Green-Beckham from the Titans in a trade for Dennis Kelly.

It should not surprise anyone that the Eagles are on the lookout for ANYONE who falls off another roster but has shown they can catch a ball. Agholor and the whole crew should be watching out because if they get cut by the Eagles it will be the end of their career. Why would anyone pick up a WR that was cut from the worse WR crew in the league.
