  • (Updated w/ good news) OT- Blitzs wife here....Bad news

So uh... this whole thread was a big hoax by someone messing with Blitz... I think.

    Here's Blitz's post on what happened: http://philly.sportscolumn.com/showp...7&postcount=41

    Here was the original message.
    original message:
Sorry to report that it doesntt look good for Walter. Since his accident when he was hit by the car things have went downhill fast for him. He was in constant pain. With no fix in site he thought this ws his best bet

Last night he tried to take his own life by overdose and is in a coma. The Doctors give him an extremely small chance(2%)chance of pulling through. Even if he does pull through the damage will bve pretty severe.

I jusy wnt to thnk you all for beinf there for him. Even though he could be cynical he loved chatting and loved talking with you all.

I will let you know when he passes. Thank you all for everything that you have done to help ease his pain. I will post again wheh he does pass.

Take care and make sure you hug your loved ones because you never know when they will be gone.

    Bonnie

PS sorry for the typos. Right now I am having problems just thinking straight.

I hate everything the Cowboys stand for. If you think they are America's team, then you support everything that is wrong with America. The excess, the greed, the lack of maturity, the lack of responsibility, the lack of control. - Luzinski's Gut

Holy shit. Ditto on that, Bonnie........
"Philly fans are great....It's the only place where you pull up on the bus and you've got the grandfather, the grandmother, the kids and the grandkids - everybody flicking you off. At other stadiums, they give you the thumbs-down. Here, they give you the middle finger.”

Bonnie - I'm so sorry to hear about Walter. We've always enjoyed his conversation too. I remember us all kind of spilling our guts as to how we came to be Philadelphia fans. I remembered his accident and also his heart felt background he gave us. I've posted it here from March 2008 for everyone to reflect on. You are in my thoughts.

I was born March 31st, 1973 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lived in Philly on and off until I was 9. We moved back and forth between Philadelphia and Hobe Sound, Florida because of my parents work. Moved back to Philly for the last time right before the Eagles played in their first SB. When we moved back the place where my parents worked( they both were in charge of running a factory) shut down suddenly which really screwed us up in a BAD way. Due to the stress of what was happening my parents got divorced and my Mom, and 3 kids had to go live at the Salvation Army for a few months until we could get back on our feet. My Dad went to the booze.

Well as time went on we got back on our feet and in a weird twist of fate my parents got back together again. At the end of 1982 they decided that they couldn't make it in Philadelphia anymore and we moved across country to San Bernardino, California where one of my sisters lived. On our way out we had a layover in Las Vegas and my Mom LOVED it. So after a year and a half in California we moved to Vegas in 84.

I have lived in Vegas since except for one year back in 1991 where I moved to Eugene, Oregon. Came back from Oregon and played football four years at UNLV. Left UNLV and took a job at a Sportsbook. Worked for 10 years from 95 until 05. Quit because I got tired of the casino bullcrap. When you work at a job like that nothing in your life is personal. Hell it still isn't.

Met my wife in 1998. Actually met her by accident. I was doing book business online with a client when she popped into the chat room we were doing business in. My work wanted me to check her out and make sure no funny business was going on. It turned out that she was a friend of the wife of the guy I was doing business with and just came on at the wrong time. She was on another PC hooked up in the house and somehow things went a bit wacky and she wound up in the same room we were in.

After talking with her on the phone for a while trying to appease my bosses I realized she was pretty cool. We started chatting more and more and I started to realize that I wanted to meet her. So she came out to Vegas in 98 to meet me and she never moved back to Pittsburgh. Which in turn royally pissed her family off. My hatred of PGH comes from them. We were married in 2002. Neither of us have kids and I doubt we ever will.

Was scheduled to go back to school in Sept but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I was walking my wife to her job(we live right up the street from it she runs the kennel at a Vet clinic)and just dropped her off and I was hit by a car. Fractured a vertebrate, herniated 2 discs, and did joint damage in my lower back. I am just now getting back on my feet and I'm not too sure if my back will ever be the same again. At least I can walk though. School will have to wait until Sept again if I am able to.

LOVE the Eagles and like the Flyers and Sixers. I really, really hate the Phillies. I don't like baseball anyway but the Phillies approach Steelers hate for me.

I think that's pretty much it. I think I am going to be a pig and call out Vin, Kcas and nyc_eagle. Sorry, couldn't pick just one.

          This is the edited part:

Just to clarify something for everyone, my hatred of the Phillies comes from management and not the players. I don't hate the players at all. I used to LOVE the Phillies but year after year of mgt not going the extra mile turned me. For a while it seemed that they didn't care if we won or lost. I can deal with losing but can't deal with the not giving 100% part.

I just had to clarify so people don't think I have some irrational hatred for the players. I don't really. Utley and Howard are some pretty stands up guys as far as I am concerned it's just the upper level that gets me.

I'm not a regular poster and don't really know the guys here, but I'm sure I can say any one of us reading this are so sorry to hear the news and offer our best wishes and support for you and Blitz. Perhaps we can hope for a miracle, and wherever Walter finds himself, may he be relieved of suffering and healed, and find his peace.

That's what I wanted to say but could not. Thank you eagle eye for being much more eloquent than I.

Eagle eye expresses my thoughts more eloquently than I could.

For us older guys, the loss of dear friends and family members becomes more frequent but no less painful. That said, I would echo Bonnie's request that we all give a hug to the ones we love.

And peace be with you Walter.

Wow! I'm floored, just completely floored! Bonnie please know that Walter and you will be in my prayers. I'm really sad to hear that Walter was suffering so much that it drove him to this. I really wish there was something I could do. I'll be sure to keep you both in my prayers.
