There's no way that he keeps an asshole like Beckham around.
Ex-Panthers GM Dave Gettleman strong candidate for Giants
Ex-Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman's name is "already making the rounds in some league circles as the most likely candidate" for the New York Giants' GM vacancy according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com.
The entire league was shocked when the Panthers fired Gettleman in late July. The team did suffer a 6-10 record in 2016 but had made the playoffs in his other three years as GM, including a spot in ther Super Bowl in 2015. He is respected throughout the league as a talent evaluator and drafted well in Carolina, but did not have a great relationship with some of the veteran players on the team and he mismanaged the departures of franchise icon Steve Smith and cornerback Josh Norman.
The Giants have not drafted well in recent years under deposed GM Jerry Reese and Gettleman's skills may just be what the team need to correct course. Before loanding the job in Carolina, the 66-year-old Gettleman worked in the Giants front office under Reese for more than a decade and is well-known to owner John Mara and team president Steve Tisch. The Giants are also a team laden with veteran players but it is possible Gettleman has learned from his Panthers experience.
