It has been very frustrating. Penn State seems quite capable of beating ND, but they have made a ton a mistakes at the wrong time.
-Botched FG,
-Fumble
-Easy dropped INT (would have saved 3 pts).
-Failure to recover a ND fumbled punt (PSU had the best shot, but -tried to pick it up instead of falling on it).
-And now, they get a horrible clipping call on them after a huge screen pass.
The Lions moved the ball very effectively and were playing decent D. PS looked like they were going to make a game of it, but a fumble, a blown FGA, and 2 dropped interceptions gave ND more help than they needed.
Plus a shitty, homer clipping call, cancelling a big PS gain late in the 2nd period, was the icing on the cake. that came just before the late ND drive that ended the half.
I knew when they flubbed that field goal that it wasn't going to be Penn State's day. But it was still manageable until that absolute bullshit clipping call - how can it be a clip if he misses the block? - followed by Quinn abusing the defense on that 2-minute drill. Now it's just pathetic.
Even if the Lions didn't have those bad breaks, you see how dangerous Brady and Charlie are? Maybe JoPa will now believe in mystiques.
I'm a big PSU fan, but a diehard ND fan. I toured the ND football facilities this summer and have a photo of me at Brady's locker, in front of Touchdown Jesus and touching the "Play Like a Champion Today" sign. Quite a spiritual experience for me.
I usually root for the Irish, but I pulled for PSU yesterday. There is just no way that you are going to play a really good team on the road like that, make a ton of mistakes, and win. I didn't expect a blowout like that though.
