New York Giants starting left tackle Ereck Flowers will not play in Sunday's season finale against the Washington Redskins according to Dan Duggan of NJ Advance Media.com.

While Flowers is listed as questionable on the official injury report with a groin issue, this appears to be essentially a benching related to the "locker room cancers" in New York. Jordan Raanan of ESPN described Flowers as "totally checked out" and both he and starting right tackle Bobby Hart had reportedly refused to play in the finale. Hart was a surprising cut by new GM Dave Gettleman this morning and Flowers' future with the organization is cloudy at best. Originally the 9th-overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Miami, Flowers has been a trainwreck at left tackle for the Giants. Gettleman's top priority this offseason has to be rebuilding the Giants' awful offensive line and it is doubtful Flowers will be part of that rebuild despite his lofty draft pedigree-and he certainly won't be the starting left tackle.

Rookie OT Chad Wheeler will start for the Giants against the Redskins.
