Please tell me if I'm off base here, but I get the impression that as a GM, Amaro is having difficulty finding his ass with both hands. I didn't think it possible that a Phillies GM could make me look back fondly at the Ed Wade years. What the hell is he doing?
Here's where I see Amaro as having taken the team since he took over this highly competitive squad that won the Series in 2008:
Current Status
- Mediocre (at best) starting 5
- Undependable middle relief
- Burnt out head case as closer
- Inept defense
- Punch and Judy offense
- Roster filled with overpaid guys in decline
- Topped off by the talent deprived farm system
Realistic prospect for the next 5 years (longer if RAJ stays)
- Bleak
Please tell me where I'm full of shit either in my view of what I see as the team's many flaws or in my impression that Amaro is in way over his head.
