I have a niece in Texas. Her son played for Bishop Lynch High and they won the Texas parochial school championship last year (might be two years now). He has a ring that rivals super bowl rings (with far fewer diamonds of course). I absolutely could not believe the size of it.
And yes, IMO if professional football players, on a large scale, say they don't want their kids playing because of injuries that will have an impact. If it is a handful that say they don't want their kids to play and a handful say they don't care and a handful say they would encourage their kids to play then it won't matter much.

Its not just Texas. I coach at a high school here in Virginia that has won multiple state championships! You should see the size of these gaudy rings! Its absurd! I use to think just getting a varsity letter meant something. Not anymore!
