  • Phils Trade Galvis, Sign Santana

After signing Tommy Hunter and Pat Neshek for the pen. San Diego's #13 prospect for Galvis and Santana for 3 yrs and 60 million
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Sounds good but Galvis was pretty sweet with the glove I thought. #13, a pitcher, has potential but reports say he has work to do to be a real prospect
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

I would like to see Lance Lynn in the rotation. With all the guys in the pen, we need someone with Nola to chew up some innings.

Does anyone think they got value for Galvis?

Absolutely! This pitcher by some valuations will be considered a top 10 prospect for us (or at minimum top 15). Galvis was a good locker room guy and a terrific glove in the field BUT he just had his highest year of OBP at .309 (horrible!) and his OPS+ is 83 (where you want at least 100 as a regular player). He's due to make more than the $4.35MM last year and JP Crawford's presence in the lineup will only boost our offensive production. Also Crawford is a plus defender himself.

we shall see if they got enough, the offense needs guys who can take pitches, work counts and get on base without hitting the ball and they also need to move runners when needed. Freddie never seemed to have a clue when hitting. Let's hope JP can be better. If you add SP, maybe one day they will hit it big.
