During this season, the Eagles’ scouting department has clearly been scouring NFL tape, finding players like Treyvon Hester and Cre’Von LeBlanc.
They’ve also apparently been watching tape from north of the border too.
On Tuesday, the Eagles officially announced the signing of a star linebacker from the Canadian Football League. They signed 25-year-old Alex Singleton to a reserve/futures contract, which means he’ll be competing for a roster spot in 2019, starting in the spring.
Singleton (6-foot-2, 232 pounds) bounced around with a few NFL teams in training camp and on practice squads in 2015 after he went undrafted out of Montana State. But he found a landing spot with the Calgary Stampeders the last three seasons and became one of the best defensive players in that league.
    Now, he’s an Eagle.

In his three seasons with the Stampeders, the native Californian played in 54 games and had 311 tackles, four sacks, one interception and six forced fumbles.
Singleton was a CFL All-Star for the past two seasons and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2017. He helped the Stampeders win a Grey Cup in 2018.
This signing comes a day after the Eagles signed WR Carlton Agudosi to a reserve/futures contract. Agudosi (6-6, 220) went undrafted out of Rutgers in 2017 and spent some time that year with the Cardinals’ practice squad.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
