    You know what's funny?

If he was cut from the Cowboys, and Andy Reid pulled a Trotter moment, called him up, ask him if he is willing to put his ego aside, and come back.

You know very well that the Eagles would take him back if he seriously stood up and apologized last year, and you know very well that the Eagles would still today give him a second chance, even after what he did.

Of course, as much as Reid can forget, the city will not, and such a thing fortunately won't happen

That may be the best piece SAS has ever written, but he's still an asshole.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Totally, 100% disagree that the Eagles would ever take him back!

We all know if he gets cut from the Turds, the next day he's riding the pine next to TJ Duckett in DC, with several zeroes added to his bank account

SAS = Owens apologist one year, detractor the next year. Freaking vultures.

This'll ruin his career? I dunno. Terrell's lifetime stats are already pretty darned good. Ruin his life? Now you're talking...I only feel for the guy, because this stuff has already caused him problems in football, and will cause him problems outside of it -- heck, it already has. If the reality check that he needs ever arrives, it'll be a doozy.

No way the Eagles would risk taking him back. Maybe they'd refer him to a whole team of psychologists, but I don't think they'd take him back.

Take him back, but only on a week-to-week minimum salary contract.

Well, while I agree with all of you guys, let me entertain the hypothesis that TO did indeed realize that he screwed up by virtue of not being the man and being the decoy he is. Assume that the Cowboys do indeed struggle at QB, TO has another "QB" moment, and they cut him. In the meantime, the Eagles really do not need him, as their offense continues to click on all cylinders.

                He is however, available.

He's not going to get signed by anyone (honestly, which team will actually take him after a THIRD team cutting him for his character), he's already 32+, and he's got issues in his life (and enemies all over).

The only team he was actually loved by as much were the Eagles. The only coach capable enough to actually forgive him, is Reid (evidenced by Trotter, Douglas, etc.)

The only thing that hurts TO is taking the spotlight away from him. If you turn off the lights from where he is, he can't live. He suffocates.

The Eagles can offer him just that. The chance to get back on the spotlight, in exchange for his full commitment to whatever the team/coaches want him to do to make nice. Chances are, he'll be asked to play from the bench. Chances are, he is going to be asked to not talk to the coaches during a game, unless spoken to. Chances are, he's going to talk to the media by answering with only one sentence: "Next Question".

But I believe deep down that Andy Reid would still take him if he truely regretted. He did take Trotter and Hugh back, and inspite of what Barber was saying about our practice habits, he took Barber back as well.

Essentially my point has nothing to do with TO. It has to do with Andy Reid and putting things in the past, moving on, and doing what's best for the team.

Now, back to reality that is, TO is not going to be brought back. Andy Reid might forgive him. The Fans won't, unless he comes back in the superbowl, catches 3 TDs (including the game winning one), and bails out the entire team. At that point, he sure will reach the level of Reno Mahe in the fan's perspective.

Again totally and 100% disagree --- OD ruined a franchise for a year
,, what Trotter and Douglas did or said doesn't rise to 1% of the damage that OD caused.

He will never, ever be taken back by the Eagles!!!!!!

Peek inside the Cowboys' locker room and, according to those close to the players, Parcells was hell-bent on ensuring T.O. wasn't the star on Sunday. Although it's no secret Parcells is partial to wideout Terry Glenn - this season - many believe he purposely didn't want Owens to shine, to avoid the migraines such a colossal ego would cause.
do you really think this is accurate? that seems like the stretchiest of stretches to me

Parcells purposely didn't want Owens to shine? No, can't see that. It'd be like saying Parcells threw the game, just to make sure Owens wasn't the hero. Makes no sense.

Sorry, I can't buy it either. Parcells has his own ego and trust me, he didn't boost it any with that game and IMO his ego is not quite as big as OD's is but it's a pretty big one. He don't like losing.

Now maybe they thought OD would be a big decoy and that would open things up other places-- and then realized that it wasn't working and that is why they went to him later in the game,,, but Tuna isn't gonna lose one to prove a point to OD-- especially a division game.

I disagree that Owens ruined the franchise for the season. He may have been disruptive, but we were still a playoff caliber team before 10 of 11 offensive starters were on IR.

Owen's could make a public apology to the Birds and #5 before the UN General Assembly, return every cent the Birds ever paid him and agree to work for $1.00 a day, have his voice box surgically removed, become a Morman and have Joseph Smith rise from the grave to personnally vouch for him, and then maybe...JUST MAYBE, Ried would allow Owens into the Linc...to clean all the public urinals, but only between 2:00 and 6:00 AM following games.

That's as close as that attention obsessed maggot would EVER come to be an Eagle again!
