Quarterback Donovan McNabb just tucked the ball in and scrambled in live team drills. McNabb's injury-plagued 2005 season has been well-documented, but he looked fleet on that run. The crowd, eager to see McNabb run, responded with a vigorous ovation. McNabb acknowledged the crowd with an Antoine Walker-like "shimmy dance." Walker, a forward on the NBA's Miami Heat, was McNabb's high school basketball team at Mount Carmel high school in the Chicago area.

His sense of humor is returning! Good sign!

Watching these passing drills, which are basically a recieiver lined up on a cornerback one-on-one, it's interesting to watch secondary coach Trent Walters. Walters is now working with nickel back Rod Hood, who was just defending Hank Baskett in an underneath route. While Walters has a background on defense, he knows a bit about receivers, too. One of his sons, Troy, is a receiver on the Arizona Cardinals after spending the last six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings. Troy is a solid veteran receiver, with a J.J. Outlaw/Jeremy Bloom-type build.

Coming back from a season ending ankle injury, cornerback Lito Sheppard, who claims he isn't even close to 100%, looked very good at this mornings practice. During 1-on-1 drills, Sheppard shut down wide receiver Bill Sampy on more than one occasion. It's great to see Lito out there playing well and having fun.

In passing drills, quarterback Donovan McNabb connected with rookie wide receiver Hank Baskett on a deep route down the left flank. Baskett had two defenders on him but outleaped both white jerseys to pull down the pass. The former high jumper has been productive in jumpball situations throughout training camp, one way he's distingushing himself from the rest of the rookie free agent receivers.

Note to self, I hope they put Baskett on any vertically challenged defender

Running back Reno Mahe is getting a lot of reps on offense this morning. The tenacious back did well with the second teamers, making good cuts and running with fluid movement.

Warning: most message board readers will be skeptical of any compliment related to Reno

For the second day in a row, guard Scott Young got involved in a little post-play tussle, this time with defensive end Darren Howard. Even though it was not as intense as yesterday, Young is definitely making his presence known out there.

Won't complain about a second-year guy standing up to a guy like Howard!

I watched the linebackers warming up just before practice started and just by watching Jeremiah Trotter, and how he acts with the rest of the group, I'm really impressed. The guy gets everyone involved and is always talking, joking around, everything that you'd expect from one of the team's leaders. Rookie middle linebacker Omar Gaither listens very closely to Trotter as well.

Before practice, center Hank Fraley was working with the snappers and holders on the special teams side. He was talking a lot with long snapper/tight end Mike Bartrum and then snapped a few deep ones himself to kicker David Akers and punter Dirk Johnson.

There's a nice crowd on hand for today's practice. It is pretty overcast out here in Lehigh, and the cooler weather is definitely a lot more tolerable than the scorching sun that dominated Wednesday's practice. Let's just hope that the skies don't open up so all these fans have something to watch this morning.

"Philly fans are great....It's the only place where you pull up on the bus and you've got the grandfather, the grandmother, the kids and the grandkids - everybody flicking you off. At other stadiums, they give you the thumbs-down. Here, they give you the middle finger.”
    — Michael Strahan

"No one likes us, no one likes us, no one likes us, we don’t care, we’re from Philly, F—-ing Philly, No one likes us, we don’t care!”
