Eagles Injury Report: Alshon Jeffery sits out, Jordan Howard limited

Philly might be without their top two wide receivers in Week 11.

    By Brandon Lee Gowton@BrandonGowton Nov 13, 2019, 4:09pm EST

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 11 game against the New England Patriots.

The good news is the Eagles are generally healthier coming off their bye week.

The bad news is the Eagles could still be without some key players this weekend.

Alshon Jeffery and Nigel Bradham both missed today’s practice.

Jeffery suffered an ankle injury late during the Eagles’ Week 9 game against the Bears. Prior to practice, Doug Pederson said Jeffery is “still store” and described the veteran pass catcher (or pass dropper) as “kind of day-to-day right now.” Excluding DeSean Jackson, who will obviously miss this week’s game, Jeffery has easily been the Eagles’ best receiver this season. Of course, that isn’t really saying much. If Jeffery can’t play, the Eagles will be down to just Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside against the Patriots.

On the topic of receivers, here’s a look at their abysmal stats from the last six games! Okay, that was just a joke at my own expense. But, for real, here’s an interesting practice development:

Interesting to note: both Pederson and Groh actively coaching receivers during individual drills. Groh in particular involved, animated.

Probably not the best week for Carson Walch’s stock.

Bradham hasn’t played since Week 6. Pederson had the following to say about Bradham’s status: “He is feeling better, so again [I’m] optimistic that there’s a chance for this game.” If Bradham can’t suit up against the Patriots, Nathan Gerry will once again be the Eagles’ primary linebacker with Kamu Grugier-Hill and T.J. Edwards also seeing some playing time.

Jordan Howard and Jason Peters were limited participants in practice.

Howard is a somewhat unexpected appearance on the injury report. He did get banged up in the Bears game. Hopefully the Eagles are just taking it easy with him because they’re going to need to heavily rely on their run game down the stretch.

Pederson confirmed that Peters, who returned to practice for the first time since Week 6, had his knee scoped during the bye. Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland left no doubt that Peters — not Andre Dillard — is still the starter at left tackle when healthy enough to play.

Timmy Jernigan, Darren Sproles, Avonte Maddox, and Josh Sweat are notably not on the injury report this week after appearing on the Week 9 version. Especially good to see Jernigan could be ready for a bigger role playing next to Fletcher Cox, who has been rounding into form.

Cre’Von LeBlanc is still on injured reserve despite being eligible to be activated since Week 9. Perhaps the fact the Eagles haven’t yet begun his 21-day practice window indicates he’s not super close to returning?

We’ll learn more about the team’s injury situation when they put out their second injury report on Thursday afternoon.

This really pisses me off. How the hell is he not ready to go after a bye week leading into two of the most important games of the season? Add in the terrible performance of this group this year and the loss of the #1 receiver and the importance of him not only playing but playing well can’t be over stated! How the hell did the medical team not get him ready in time?!?! I have enough of this medical staff. Howie had better fire the whole fucking crew at the end of the season and bring in high quality, top flight, SPORTS doctors! This current crew sucks!

I think something has been bugging him all season. He hasn't been sharp in cuts and hasn't showed a lot of jumping ability either
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I think Jeffrey is just beat up. There is no question IMM that his effort is always 100% as confirmed with playing the whole season in 17 with a separated shoulder which appears to still be impeding him. He seemed much quicker about a month ago. I hope he can turns things around for us because we need him so much if we are going anywhere.
