  • Sixers Deal John Salmons to Suns

And the Suns give him $22 million. I mean. Good Lord. John Salmons got $22 million. For what? Getting his shot blocked?

What does $1.8M trade exception mean?

By the way, saw this tidbit on there too: "Among the available players King doesn't appear interested in are the Celtics' Wally Szczerbiak and ex-Sixer Theo Ratliff." Thank god. we do not need Wally World.

Not that the end result matters (although the 2nd rounder would be better) but the Daily News and Inquirer are reporting the deal is with the Raptors. Plus I think Phil Jasner holds a little more weight.

If your over the cap like the sixers you can trade it for a player up to $1.8m. AlsoI think you could trade player X who has a $6m contract with the exception for player Y who makes $7.8m.

Can you combine that with the mid level exception and pay someone a couple million more? Like say Al Harrington?

I don't think so. I think it can only be used in trades to make them work under the cap. I think it works just as if you were trading someone with that size contract.

The new twist, as you may have seen, is that the Sixers get nothing and Salmons gets 5/25 from the Kings. For what?
In four seasons with the Sixers, he averaged 5.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 281 games.

Salmons screwed us out of a 2nd rounder and an exception.

This after the Nets screwed us out of 2 2nd rounders last season when they re-neged on the Hunter deal because of 'injury' and then he played the rest of the season for us injury-free.
