Then he progresses through high school and then onto college where he declares himself for the draft his Jr. year. He's 22 now so he'll be ready to play at 29 and I'll be 77. That gives him about 5 years to be in Canton. I look forward to his inauguration speech with his accent. He's also an accomplished singer so maybe he'll give us a tune too.

But he didn’t get anyone killed and actually did pretty well for a 2 year player against guys who have played all their lives. How does this not impress you ? Give him another year and he might be the next great T
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. If he does come around where is he going to play? We don't need another tackle. We just developed him for somebody else because his contract will be expiring .

This could be Peters and Kelce's last year so maybe Seumalo moves to C, Big V and Brooks at G, Dillard and Johnson at T and Mailata replaces Big V as the backup swing Tackle.

Best problem in the world to have is too much talent. He’s one injury from being Lanes replacement o

Mailata is now at RT. Dillard is the back-up at LT and Vaitai is the initial backup at RT but he'll be gone after this year. Mailata can play LT & RT. You can't tell me a guy who is paid as a 7th rounder being a back-up at LT & RT isn't a valuable asset to have. If anything, Pryor is the one who looked lost last night. Mailata did fine and played most of the game. He saw his first game one year ago. He is catching up quickly.

I guess that Dillard will be a bust then and a wasted pick? Are they wasting their time developing him for somebody else as we only have his rights for a year of two? Taking this guy never made any sense to me and it never will is guess, at least not at OT. If they turned him lose at D line or a TE maybe I would but they have him in the hardest position to learn. If he can't play this year he is useless to the franchise but some think he's going to Canton. I guess maybe the whole thing doesn't mean that much anyway but when they have such a hard time cutting guys I don't see why he's in the mix.

Nah 60 the guy that is going to Canton was Suds before he got hurt.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

It’s being said that Pryor is a project too. I’d say so is Thorson at this point. For a SB contender we sure have a lot of projects going on!

He was never going to really play until 2020 at any rate. Dillard was an unexpected opportunity, you have to take that. That means you now accept a setback with Mailata a little bit, since he now has to reverse all the muscle memory he built up. Even good drivers have trouble when they initially have to drive on the other side of the road, and we essentially complaining that a driver wasn't immediately as good or better right away when making that shift -- and OT is a hell of a lot harder.

Really though, we are going to lose Peters and Vaitai almost certainly after this season, and if we can have two years of Mailata (starting next season) being a good swing tackle backup that is a great return for a couple of seventh round picks. He's a fun story and gets more media interest than is probably warranted due to that, but he's got some rare athletic ability. There are many players who take a couple years at least to figure out the NFL (Agholor ?) and a guy who never played football at all before is almost guaranteed to take that long. He himself said his personal goal was to get some decent playing time by year three. Honestly I was expecting a couple of years on the practice squad originally, but he progressed very quickly last preseason. Fans tend to get irrationally impatient with young players, but the team should not.

Good post. I've often said that we, as fans, have very little real knowledge of what goes on with the team. Who is a team guy v a me guy. Who really missed their block since we don't know what the particular assignments were. We may see a player get bowled over but if a guy gets beat we can't be sure if he was supposed to have help or if it was actually his guy that got in.
As a side note 60---- I didn't know a man your age could keep a hard on this long.

Viagra. Seriously though, it was a post meant to create some decent conversation around here for a change and it appears to have worked. It doesn't keep me up at night. The last guy that did that was Torrence Small lol!

Baldinger agrees with you and then raises all-in.

I am interested in hearing some other takes from people who know their OL play -- Baldinger can let his enthusiasm run way too far at times.

I'm watching the game a little closer now, Mailata and Dillard look pretty good, Wiz not so much. Also, If Singleton doesn't grab a LB spot, he's a beast on STs
