Default Stirring the Off Season

Anyone want to stir the pot? This is just off season fodder but what would it take for you to trade Nick? What if Flip wants an Eagle QB in Minny? What if that QB was Wentz rather than Foles? Is it possible to trade Wentz?

I'd want a first for Nick; especially if it is someone with a late pick like Minnesota would have. For Wentz though you will have to bring a bucket. Not sure how full the bucket would have to be but it better be full.
You know what you have with Foles whereas Wentz has a knee. Personally I'm guessing the knee will be 100% but I have no doubt in my mind it is closely being watched in the NovaCare. Wentz is also going to command a serious contract in another year or so. Is anyone ever off the table?

Yes, Wentz is off the table. Not only would Roseman and Lurie ever trade him, I doubt any team would give up a boatload for a QB coming off a serious knee injury.

I really think we have to go into next season with both and then see how things play out. You only consider a Trade for Foles if it’s a minimum #1 pick plus but even then, we had better be damn sure that Wentz is back to 100%.

One more thought. I’m pretty sure the Vikings brought in Flip to help with Bridgewater’s development. I know they are still really high on him.

My prediction is nick is back

Or

Traded to the Cardinals for a swap of first round picks.

He's worth at least a number one now I'd say because he will come so cheap. Did you see how if anybody trades for him that they have him locked up at $5.5 million for 4 years?

Default Here's what Vegas thinks

I'm thinking that Nick might like to be closer to home in Arizona if he has to leave Philly.

Where Will Nick Foles End Up?

Despite taking an absolute beating in Super Bowl LII, our oddsmakers wasted no time in creating an interesting market concerning Nick Foles.

Where will the reigning Super Bowl MVP end up in 2018?

It’s an interesting conversation and my pals down in the sportsbook have narrowed this down to some interesting options for the man who just can’t stop betting on NFL football related stuff.

The landing spots for Nick Foles seem interchangeable on the surface level, but they differ in one major aspect – price. You’re going to have to trade something notable to the Eagles to wrestle Foles from the grasp, but can then extend him on the cheap compared to what you’re going to have to lay down for Cousins. The $135 million contract Cousins is rumored to be worth is right on point.

So who is willing to skip Cousins and take a chance on a quarterback who may very well be a product of a championships system instead of a game changing talent?

Let’s have a look.

Odds per BetOnline.ag

Philadelphia Eagles +135

The Eagles continue to feel like the best choice, mostly because Carson Wentz’s injury requires a very lengthy recovery. Foles is essentially owed $5.5 million per season up until the summer of 2021 when he will become a 33-year-old free agent. Coming off two of the most brilliant games in NFL playoff history will have teams calling Philly to see what they can get for him, but it’s probably in the best interest of the Eagles to keep this quarterback controversy alive.

The big reason is that Wentz is owed just $6.7 million on average. Philadelphia would be holding on to two of the top quarterbacks in the league for less than the starter’s average. Hanging on to Wentz/Foles for $13.2 million a year (give or take) is a better deal than what Washington just paid Alex Smith, or whatever Kirk Cousins is going to pull in, right?

Philadelphia leads this market because they have the option to cut Foles, or trade him, whenever they please. Of course, his trade value will never ever be higher and we’ve seen Foles go from “the guy” to a complete bum before so are other teams going to be willing to pull the trigger?

Arizona Cardinals +400
The Red Birds have zero prospects on their roster at the quarterback position, and I doubt that they’re willing to shell out for Cousins after being weighed down by Carson Palmer all these years. The attraction of acquiring, and then extending, Foles is pretty obvious. But the Cardinals are in a weird phase. Are they rebuilding? Going for it? Is Larry Fitzgerald even coming back? Too many questions makes me hesitant to believe that Foles will end up here.

Cleveland Browns +500
You know what the Eagles will ask for to get Wentz, and it’s either the 4th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft or a high second rounder. Cleveland seems less and less like the likely destination for Kirk Cousins, who apparently wants to go to Minnesota. The Browns are desperate to make the correct decision here, and drafting any of the rookies in the draft class seems like a chance that they can’t afford to screw up. Foles would be a great asset for the Browns to bank on, and he fits the cast of what Todd Haley likes. If you’re not going to bet on the Eagles at +135, I like the Browns the best in this market.

New York Jets +525
The Jets seem content to bring back Josh McCown for cheap instead of mortgaging their future for the time being. They’re still in a crazy rebuilding mode and waiting for their guy to appear. A big move for Foles or Cousins doesn’t make any sense here. The Jets are not that desperate and neither will make the instantly competitive. Too many other holes to fill.

Denver Broncos +800
Considering the payout here, and Jon Elway’s tendency to target guys exactly like Nick Foles, this is actually a great bet. The fan base just suffered through the three headed monster of Osweiler-Lynch-Seimian and this team is loaded with talent that also needs to get paid. Foles fills the notion that Denver doesn’t want to pay a lot for a quarterback. I like this as a flier play.

Jacksonville Jaguars +1200

The Jaguars weren’t able to beat Tom Brady because they couldn’t go eighty yards downfield to score in the second half. Who better to replace Blake Bortles than the Super Bowl MVP who just ripped the Patriots to shreds? There’s some really good pieces here, and the Jaguars also committed $20 million to Bortles this past season so there’ll be room to pay Foles a king’s ransom. If Jacksonville is going to be aggressive in the summer, Foles is the ideal replacement for Bortles.

Foles is off limits unless he tells the Eagles he wants to be a starter and welcomes a trade.

In that case I would let him choose his destination and then negotiate the best deal I could get from that team. I honestly think we owe him the right to make that decision. If he says he will go to whoever gives us the best deal I tell Cleveland we want the number 4 and a second and then settle for the 4 and anything they are willing to give us. They hqve a ton of picks so we may get something more out of them. If they do that deal I trade the 4 for more picks and we go with Sudfeld if Wentz isn’t ready.

But my first choce is to keep Foles here. Who else has ever had the reigning Super Bowl MVP as their backup before?

It's certainly the best since Van Brocklin and Jurgenson in 1960! And look what happened then! There's no way that the Eagles will screw Nick but whoever they are dealing with doesn't have to know that. The Pats took care of Garoppolo and man did they ever with the contract that he got (and the weather!). One look at that contract and what it's going to cost to get Cousins and I think Howie's phone will start ringing off of the hook next week.

Did the Giants bring back Hostetler after the Super Bowl win? I cant remember. For me I am leaving it up to Nick. If he stays I redo his deal and give him a nice bump in signing bonus for now and give myself cheap out when Wentz is due.

IMO you get what you can for Nick. There are so many people looking for QB help, the Cards have no QBs. You don't roll with Sudfeld on the 53 man all season if you don't have plans for him.

Jacksonville might be in play more than people might think. If they want to keep Bortles they have an option for $19 million for a year.

One thing hurting Nick might be that people are going to think that he might be a product of the system. The way that he threaded the needle those last 2 games might dispel that though.

The other thing that people are forgetting is that with Flip getting the Vikings OC job they just might want to keep Bridgewater or Keenum around and have Flip work with one of them. There's a lot of potential there. Flip already said that he doesn't want a statue back there which probably indicates that he doesn't want Sam. This is far and away the most interesting off season for QBs since free agency began.

Cousins
Keenum
Bridgewater
Bradford
Bortels?
Foles?
Am I missing anybody?
