  • One Great Year!!

This is simply going to be a great year for the Birds! And for this team being in the SB will not be nearly enough. They have every intention of winning it all and why not.

While the national press can't stop looking at TO and Dallas. This board has been rightfully predicting big things and the analysis so far seems pretty convincing:

    1. You win football games in the trenches and IMHO we look great there. Jackson is head and shoulders above Fraley as a drive blocker. (from day 1 there was never really any competition. The coaching staff saw from last year what an up grade he is. Andrews is a ton better having lost a 1/2 ton in weight. (that is scarey). Plus we have great competition and depth along the entire 5 man front.
Our defensive line is soooo much better then last year. We have only seen a bit of it in the preseason. Again great competition and depth. Speed and power. This line is going to stun the "experts".

    2. A full complement of running backs gives us a true weapon on the ground. We all know how effective a good running attack can be in loosening up a DB for the long pass. With this OL we force defenses to bring extra players into the box and that is where our "average" receivers according to national media, will again surprise people. We now have a legit speed guy in Stalworth but also game speed in Brown that seems to have been under estimated. With the speed comes physical toughness across the board. Even our speed guys can cross the middle. Avant and Basett give us strength in going to the ball. (no "for who?, for what") in these guys and even Glewis is tough on special teams.

    3. Special teams, look how many of our cuts were signed by other teams.
We have great depth throughout our roster and that means great athletes playing special teams. Injuries last year hurt in all phases of the game and we saw a big drop off in ST play. We know we have one of the best
ST coaches so look for a hudge step up.

    4. DONOVAN MCNABB--He will have an MVP year. He is HEALTHY. This is man with awesome physical talents and when healthy he can do feats beyond most humans. He is EXPERIENCED. He knows this offense inside and out. He stayed in Philly this year to know his fellow players inside and out. As has been already pointed out there has been a big turn over of new faces in the club houuse since the SB and even last year.
He is MOTIVATED. Remember how he responded to the rush limbaugh comment. Well last year more then his race was called into question.
His stamina--remember TO talkig about who got tired in the SB, his leadership, his physical ability (playing with such an injury can make anyone look ordinary), really everything about him as an athlete and a man. He wants to show TO and everyone who ever doubted him that he is the best......end of discussion. He may do just that and carry this team to the ultimate prize.

    5. Team Motivation. A lot of what was just said questioning DMac ability is also a reflection on the entire team and organization. Nothing focuses the mind better then defeat. We all know these are high character people.
They are winners and have been winners most of their playing careers in the NFL. Last year was like a 2x4 between the eyes. It got everyones attention and they have come back this year committed to WINNING IT ALL!!!!

This is going to be fun. I can't wait for Sunday.

OT - love the post and the sentiment. I think they are in the mix but they certainly have question marks (most notably how the WR corps responds as well as the play of the OLBs). If these questions can be answered in short order and we have a healthier year than last - I'm on board with you!
