  • I'm expecting Cega to make the leap this season

How 2019 NFL second-round draft picks fared, what’s in store in 2020 - ESPN
    57. Philadelphia Eagles — J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford. Analysis: Arcega-Whiteside finished 29th among rookies in receiving yards with 169, unable to achieve the instant success multiple players from his draft class enjoyed. That came as a bit of a surprise given the ability he had shown at Stanford and during the preseason. Asked to learn all three receiver positions, he suffered from information overload. With better coaching and a little more seasoning, Arcega-Whiteside has the potential to blossom in Year 2. But with the Eagles looking to bolster the position in the draft, he’s going to have to earn his snaps in 2020. Rating: Has a lot to prove.

he was being taught the ropes on 3 positions, he wasn't expected to be #1 or #2 most of the season. They just figured he would pop in here or there and just glide through the year
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Concur. IMO, this is what may have stunted his progress through the season. Immersion may be good for some learners, but others not so much. And the injuries to the starters didn't help I'm sure.

Could be a coaching flaw since I have read similar things about other players for the birds. They are taught multiple positions right away; OL for example. Might be better to see if they get their primary position down first before trying anything fancy.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
        Hope is not a strategy

I'm really not worried about him. He always looked good to me when he played. There's a lot of truth in that article and I expect him to make the leap in year 2 if we even have a frieken season.
