Aside from the actual pitchers involved I think it's a terrible idea. Cholly deserves to manage the way he wants to, it's worked out so far, and frankly until he screws up, RAJ needs to stay out of the day to day on the field managing of this club.

And I agree with BP, I think Myers will be the closer by post season IF Lidge keeps blowing games. The other side there is also look at Madson and how many games he has blown, it ain't easy.

Whether it is Manuel or not I am not in favor of the FO stepping in to tell the manager how to manage unless they are in the process of replacing him. Lidge is enough to piss off the pope this year but Charlie M should know what the team and/or his players need.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy

The starters got together and solved Charlie's Lidge problem. If they're up by only one in the eighth inning, just give up a 2 run bomb. Problem solved!

Any chance that Cholly and Rube play a little "good cop, bad cop" with Lidge?

Myers has to be on the roster by Monday to play in the post season, correct?

Damn, I knew Lidge had it in him all the time right, Tino? LMAO!

What you said, with maybe a couple more 'funnys'. Much more unpredictable than any other pro sport.

For mental health reasons, I forced myself to NOT LISTEN to any of last night's game until the top of the 8th. That was a REAL good plan! It appears that Madsen and Lidge have now formed a pact to take turns making us nuts.

I read mixed views on how Lidge 'looked' last night (I suspect the critics were less objective), but he sure got the job done in short order. Once again, getting that first pitch strike is soooo key for him.

BTW, Moyer has been uncanny coming in after Pedro's 'rain delays'!

Like I said, Moyer is the rain delay specialist!

                      Brad Buddy,

Nice work tonight! Just wanted to remind you that I was always there for you! There were doubters...too many to count. But not me! I kept telling Charlie (and MD), "Just keep giving him the ball. He'll work things out."

Oh, and that memo 'supposedly' sent by me with the Jap suicide stuff in it (no offense intended to any Asians on the board). Don't know for sure, but I think probaly Jukin sent it.

                      I'm with you 400%!!!

PS: Remember, no matter what, I'll be in your corner...unless, of course, you blow a couple saves!

Just back from the game,,, and I personally assured "Lights out" that "we on this board have always stuck by him and supported him more than 400%". In fact I advised him that "it was in fact "US" that convinced Cholly to stick with you instead of going out and getting Billy Wags back here". And that we were "glad our faith in you has been shown to be well placed".

He responded that he felt this outpouring of support and appreciated it and asked if we could continue our strong backing, and of course I assured him we would......................................

As long as he doesn't blow another save.

Man, look at you guys! Trying to step in and take credit for things you had absolutely NOTHING to do with! Seriously, tino and MD, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves! I was at the game Friday night and I saw Moyer and Lidge working in the bullpen. Fortunately the rain delay (the first one) gave me a chance to leave the group I was with and run down to the pen. I was talking with Moyer and I told him that I saw a kink in his delivery. We worked through that and then I showed him an alternate grip for a slow breaking ball. (You may have seen him showing the grip to some of the other guys in the pen last night)

Anyway I spent the better part of an hour working with him. By the time I finished the rain delay was over and I had to return to my seat. I was pretty disappointed because I really wanted to spend the time working with Lidge. Well wouldn't you know it - ANOTHER rain delay allowed me to do just that! This time though I didn't need to work on his mechanics, just his mind. He let me hypnotize him and I was able to instill some of last years confidence back into him. Now as long as no one blows a whistle and says the phrase, "tinopuno prefers pink panties" we'll be fine. If some does say it Lidge will immediately leave the mound by doing the moonwalk all the while flapping his arms and clucking like a chicken. Either way, we win!
