Eagles vs. Washington Final Injury Report: Good news for Philadelphia
    30
    Final injury news.

By Brandon Lee Gowton@BrandonGowton Updated Sep 6, 2019,
    Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports
The Philadelphia Eagles announced their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 1 game against Washington.

The big news is that it looks like the Eagles will have their key players who seemed to be in some kind of jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game. Such players include starting right guard Brandon Brooks (!), starting wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, and starting defensive end Derek Barnett. All three guys were full participants in Friday’s practice and they aren’t listed as questionable so they should be playing. That’s great news for the Eagles. It’s also surprising Brooks is ready to go less than nine months after suffering an Achilles injury back in mid-January.

It’s also great news that recovering players like Fletcher Cox, Ronald Darby, Nigel Bradham, and Rodney McLeod weren’t even on the injury report at all this week. Now, we’ll see if those guys (and the other trio above) are fully effective on Sunday. And we’ll also see if the Eagles manage their playing time. For now, though, it’s good to know the team is close to full strength.

No surprises with the three players ruled out: Kamu Grugier-Hill, Nate Sudfeld, and Jordan Mailata. None of them practiced this week.

Grugier-Hill is expected to miss a few more weeks as he recovers from his Grade 3 MCL sprain. His absence likely means Zach Brown will see a good chunk of playing time next to Nigel Bradham.

Sudfeld could be out for a couple more weeks as he recovers from his wrist injury. Josh McCown will be the only healthy quarterback behind Carson Wentz.

Mailata isn’t likely to be active even when he’s healthy so his injury hardly changes much. Mailata is still week-to-week but he seems to be coming along a bit.

Jordan Mailata said he was able to run today and that this back injury is unrelated to last year’s. Said he remains “week to week” with medical staff wanting to make sure he’s completely healed.

    WASHINGTON REDSKINS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)
Starting left tackle Trent Williams still hasn’t reported to Washington so it’ll be a 36-year-old Donald Penn starting at left tackle. Penn only signed with Washington back on July 31. Penn’s presence allows Washington to keep former Giants bust Ereck Flowers at guard, which seems to be going great!

Gruden acknowledges Ereck Flowers could have some growing pains at guard and the team is ready for that.

Washington ruled two players out: Colt McCoy and Fabian Moreau.

McCoy’s absence means rookie Dwayne Haskins is the backup behind starting quarterback Case Keenum.

Moreau’s absence hurts Washington’s cornerback depth. It also means the Eagles’ opponent will be relying on seventh-round rookie Jimmy Moreland as their starting nickel guy. Moreland had a good offseason but that shouldn’t stop the Eagles from trying to test him as he lines up against Nelson Agholor in the slot.

Jordan Reed is among three Washington players ruled questionable. The tight end was limited in practice all week. Reed hasn’t been cleared for contact yet but that could change by 1:00 PM on Sunday.

Backup defensive linemen Cassanova McKinzy and Caleb Brantley are questionable to play but they were full participants on Friday so that seems to bode well for them.
