Eagles supposedly have a deal worked out with Byron Maxwell, CB from Seattle...

Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski has confirmed a report that free agent CB Byron Maxwell will sign with the Eagles Tuesday.

Credit Houston-based reporter Jayson Braddock for having the news first. He says it's a five-year deal worth $53M-$54M and includes $25M guaranteed. It means free agency's No. 1 corner is off the market and it's also the first step in the Eagles' rebuild of their woeful secondary. Maxwell is a physical 6-foot corner who shined while getting peppered with targets opposite Richard Sherman. The Eagles desperately needed a corner with size to match up with the likes of Dez Bryant.

Yahoo's Rand Getlin reports the Eagles have an offer on the table for free agent Frank Gore that includes $7 million in guarantees.

Per Getlin, the deal would average more than $5 million annually. It's possible all $7 million of the guaranteed money would be on the books for 2015. Gore remained highly productive in 2014, but it would be a princely sum for a 32-year-old back (in May) who has racked up massive workloads for over a decade.

It could very well be one and done for him. He's still a load though. It would be huge if Polk could stay healthy for a change and spell Gore. I wonder when Gore and Chip fell in love with each other. You've got to admit, Kelly sure gets around!

And we're getting Maxwell! Macklin isn't done yet. Maybe we'll get lucky and hear a Cooper rumor tomorrow!

The Philadelphia Eagles may have Byron Maxwell in the fold, but the team is still in need of a cornerback to start opposite of him. According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, the Birds could be looking to pair Maxwell with impending free agent cornerback Tramon Williams.

Williams, who turned 31 in March, is an eight-year NFL veteran who's been with the Green Bay Packers since 2007. The 5-11, 182 pound cornerback has made 99 starts in 127 career appearances. He's recorded 28 interceptions, 114 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, and 395 tackles in his career.
Williams is fairly durable. The veteran hasn't missed a single game in the past three seasons. He's only started less than 10 games in the first two years of his career.
The combination of Maxwell and Williams would be a significant upgrade over what the Eagles have had in recent seasons with Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher. The new potential pairing won't be cheap, however. Stay tuned to see how it plays out.

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I'd be OK with Williams on the cheap 2 year deal maybe but I don't want to invest a ton of money in him.

            Safety concerns me though.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports free agent Jeremy Maclin plans to sign with the Chiefs on Tuesday.
This is a worst case scenario for Maclin's fantasy outlook. Not only is Alex Smith unwilling to pull the trigger on what he deems difficult throws, but Andy Reid's offense is "spread the wealth" in nature, and doesn't heavily target one specific player. Maclin never broke out in Philadelphia until he had Chip Kelly scheming him the football in 2014. In order to clear enough salary cap room for Maclin, the Chiefs are expected to release Dwayne Bowe. They may also have to move on from their pursuit of free agent C Rodney Hudson. Mar 8 - 8:29 PM

Whoa. So it turns out that Jeremy Maclin won't be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles after all. According to ESPN Insider Chris Mortensen, Maclin will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs when 2015 NFL free agency begins on Tuesday, March 10. This move obviously reunites Maclin with former Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
                  More coming. Stay tuned.

The Patriots are "working to keep" free agent FS Devin McCourty.
The Eagles seem to be their primary competition. There is some feeling the Patriots may have to choose between McCourty and Darrelle Revis, but in an ideal world they would keep both. New England finally built one of the NFL's top defenses in 2014. A huge reason for that was the play of McCourty. Mar 8 - 8:40 PM

Could definitely see that happening - reuniting with Andy and going back to Missouri where he went to school.
