  • Another "former" Eagle........

"Former Eagles guard Jermane Mayberry, who signed with the Saints last year as a free agent, has retired after being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder problem..."

Congrats to Jermane on a nice career, and for all the good work he did w/ the eyemobile and various charities. Classy guy, overcame blindness in his eye and made himself a solid starter/borderline pro-bowler. Good luck Jermane, thanks for the memories!

He was a fine Eagle. Good luck to him.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

        Yep...good luck to him.

It's unreal the number of players, after leaving Philly, just seem to fade away and never come close to reaching the personal success that they had playing for the Birds.

How about Hugh Douglas! Carlos Emmons ... Even Shawn Barber wasn't nearly the same after his one year here.

Some of it is just the way the cookie crumbles injuries age etc, but I think we also have an excellent group of coaches that really aids these players playing within our system. Even TO will not reach the potential he would have here.

Very true. Its also not coincidental that since Heckert took over the Personnel job the Eagles have been making such consistently sound player evaluations and decisions.

I thought Shawn Barber had a great first year in Kansas City. And Derrick Burgess? Never-the-less, the trend generally holds true.

On a related note, this is why I was really surprised Westbrook stayed here in Philly. I was sure that he would bolt at his first opportunity to a team that would give him more carries, and with a vision (in his mind) that he'd become a 1200+ yard back. Fortunately he must have a good head on his shoulders, and realizes that even though they only hand it to him 10-15 times a game, this system is made for Brian Westbrook.
