  • State of the League

At the mid-point of the season, lets take a gander at the NFC and AFC so far...

    NFC/AFC

    East:

    NYG 5-2
    Dallas 4-3

    NE 6-1

    North:

    Chicago 7-0
    Minnesota 4-3

    Baltimore 5-2
    Cincy 4-3

    South:

    New Orleans 5-2
    Atlanta 5-2

    Indy 7-0
    JAX 4-3

    West:

    Seattle 4-3
    St. Louis 4-3

    Denver 5-2
    San Diego 5-2
    KC 4-3

So, 8 NFC teams are over .500 and 8 AFC teams are over .500 as of now...thus half the league is at .500 or below half-way through the season...7 out of the 16 teams judged as "successful" up to this point are 4-3 or barely above the threshold...so, looking deeper there are really 9 teams in the entire league that could be considered very good so far...

For the Eagles at 4-4, we are 1 game behind the NYG and have lost to them head-to-head once. They had an early bye and we have ours this week, but we do not play them again until 12/17. Dallas bounced back last week, but I still do not see them as a serious contender.

The NFC is wide open IMO and only Chicago has really put a stake in the ground so far to claim it...we did the same in 2004 and made the SB while Indy did it last year and did not even make it that far...so nothing is set; the division and conference are still available if we can get our shit together consistently...
