I might disagree on whether Vick was sufficiently punished, but I don't think he should play in the NFL. We're so busy arguing about the severity of dog killing that we are overlooking all the other $hit that he did. Giving the fans the finger..The Water bottle at the airport...Lying to the Falcons, his employer, and also to Goddell. And that's just off the top of my head.

This is the Goddamned owner's responsibility. If the NFL bans Vick, welcome to Mike Vick vs. the NFL playing out in a federal court near you. He needs to be suspended by the league for violating league policy, and lying, for a period of games, but ulitmately reinstated.

The owners then need to make a stand for the integrity of the f'cking league, and not hire this f'ng skumbag psycopath. It's ugly. And the fans of the Bills, or Raiders, or whoevever signs this guy that cheer and root for him on the field should be ashamed of themselves too. No one should be in favor of their team signing Vick.

And if he does get back on the field, hopefully a pissed off LBer that loves dogs like MD and tino does gets a chance to drill his A$$.

LOL, generally I agree with much of what you say. Again I never said (nor intimated a ban) just that another suspension should be in order. There are many issues here, gambling, bringing dishonor to the league, lying to both the owner of the Falcons and the Czar.

I also agree that whatever team trots him out there should be shunned and booed unmercifully.

I must point out though in the need for accuracy --- I am not a dog lover. In fact I haven't owned a dog since I was about 12. (Not that I have anything against them, but we both always worked and didn't think it was fair for the dog.) But I am a pet lover in general.

Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Two wrongs don't make a right, but it seems hypocritical to throw the book at one guy, while others are allowed lessor sentencing. If the NFL/justice system wants to change things they need to set new policy in place before they just decide to lay it on whoever they chose.

And again, comparatively what Vick did wasn't all that bad compared with other pro athletes.

Matt Hughes, arguably the most dominant fighter in UFC history, is a far more sick individual and has had zero legal consequences that I know of. In his own autobiography he states that:

-Growing up in the midwest he tortured the animals on his family farm.
-While at college mutilated a litter of baby pigs and then started throwing the various organs at other people.
-Also while in college he statutory raped raped his now wife. (She was 13).
-Once when he was a kid and his dad scolded his brother for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, the brothers proceeded to viciously beat their own father.
-At reception after his brother's wedding he beat his brother's new in-laws.

And this isn't even counting the fact that he is an arrogant dick, wannabe Christian.

              MD.
IMO, the fact that you are not a dog lover/owner makes your position all the stronger. I admire your energy and persistence.

I, on the other hand, am guilty as charged...an unapologetic 'freakin dog lover'. I started this thread on an ironic note regarding a '2nd chance' for Vick. I don't think Vick should be banned but I sincerely hope he never plays again in the NFL. (My views on Vick are totally separate from my contempt for the likes of Leonard Little and the thug filth that plays MLB for Baltimore...both of whom, IMO, should be in prison.)

What I intend to be my last comments in this thread have to do with a sense that we have a deep moral obligation to protect the voiceless and essentially defenseless creatures that do so much to serve us.

The dog has not come to be known as 'Man's Best Friend' just by chance. Since at least the ancient Greeks, dogs have served man in myriad ways, seeking little in return other than an occasional pat on the head and something to eat.

An incomplete list of the invaluable services they provide man today includes: search and rescue; service dogs for the hearing, visually and physically disabled; K9 corp in war and peace time; disease and sudden illness detecting; therapy dogs; guard dogs; explosive and drug detection; guide dogs; hunting and retrieving; herding and ranching and just plain companions.

It is as a faithful companion that most of us know dogs. Even on those occasional days when the rest world has conspired to take a dump on you, when you come home to your dog he lets you know you're still 'Aces' with him/her.

Their devotion to their master (and family) is unconditional and unyielding. In direct contradiction to their remarkably strong self-survival instincts (they are after all just domesticated wolves), there are countless stories of dogs willingly giving their lives in the service of humans.

We have an obligation to, at the very least, protect them from sadistic cretins like Vick and his ilk!

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!

I can tell you the difference Lief, Vick got caught!! Also, you say that this guy is an arrogant dick, blah blah, but yet you believe the things he wrote in his autobiography, and you read it?? Why don't you try prosecuting him for the things he wrote in his auto. and let me know how that turns out for you.
Stand for the flag you assholes!

Eagles, Flyers Phillies fan since 1977. GO O'S!!

LD, this was line of work for 25 years, please. This guy will get so many CC offers, car offers and be able to buy a house-- he is the safest risk out there, he can't file again for 7 years.

Bankruptcy used to be a moral stigma, it isn't even that so much anymore. Trust me he will not have any of those things happen to him that you list--- it don't work that way anymore.

The only people who get hurt in Chap 7 are the people he owes money to-- and when they pass on that cost the rest of us pay.
That IS the way the world works today. And the Lawyers make a ton.

Good post and maybe that is why the moral outrage is so high--- the domesticated pets depend on humans for protection, they can't defend themselves.

As Zep said, what is the point of your post if the guy was never caught or if it's all just fabricated anyhow???

And the bigger point is that he isn't Vick or Little or anyone else who might have gotten a light sentence or got away with stuff, that's the way our society works. I'm sure people have gotten too much punishment and many have gotten too little. This is about Vick and not "all the rest".

Vick got caught and found guilty and (IMO) because of his stature (and money) got a light sentence, and the NFL should still suspend him IMO. He got roughly the same sentence as the guys that ratted him out, yet he was head honcho and bankrolled the whole thing and used his property to do it-- he should have gotten more time, the state gave him nothing and the gambling issue hasn't even been addressed. So yeah, IMO he got away light.

Until the courts and laws get tougher, yup, DUI, is gonna be a much more accepted crime (even though people lose their lives) because "everybody" does or has done it!!! (figuratively)

And the liquor reduces and impairs your capabilities and reasoning --- but there was nothing impairing these inbred smucks(other than rampant stupidity). They knew it was wrong ------------- and didn't care. It was against the law, it was in humane, it was disgusting and they had all the faculties to know right from wrong --- and still went out and did it -- for years!!!!!!!

I'm all for cracking down on people who harm others with their cars if driving while drunk--- but in our society until they do(crack down), there will be more LL's.

                        Vick back in bankruptcy court

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Suspended NFL star Michael Vick is back in bankruptcy court in Virginia.

Vick arrived at the Norfolk courthouse Tuesday with his fiancee, Kijafa Frink, for a hearing on his efforts to draft a new bankruptcy plan. Vick is living under home confinement in nearby Hampton.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro rejected Vick's plan in April. Santoro said Vick should sell some of his vehicles and one or both of the expensive homes he wanted to keep. The judge also was concerned that the plan depended on Vick's return to the NFL.
League Commissioner Roger Goodell has not said whether he will lift Vick's suspension.
Vick is under home confinement for the last two months of his sentence for bankrolling a dogfighting ring. He's scheduled to be released from federal custody July 20.
