Kevin Kolb: What do you think now?

Based on what I had seen previously I felt pretty certain he was heading the route of Bobby Hoying. That's one of those things you say but really hope you get to eat crow over and I have to say now that first team reps and preparation time have made Kolb look like a different guy.
I also think having Vick here and then bringing Garcia in made it pretty clear that he had to play well in this game, otherwise there may not be another start for a while. Think about the career defining impact to Kolb if he had a bad day. I think this says something about him, chronic losers have a tendency to choke under that kind of pressure. But he stepped up to the plate.

I'm not ready to annoit him as the franchise qb of the future for beating the chiefs and he did throw 3 picks in the saints game but this is the NFL and even against the chiefs not a lot of QB's will throw for over 300yds.

So my apologies to Kolb. I don't know what the eagles will ultimately do with him but I feel better for the time being about him being the # 2 and potentially being the hope of a new eagles era.

I think he has shown why Andy & Co are high on him. He has stood in the pocket and stepped up with the throw. He had some INTs but everyone has them (and NO was sitting back and waiting for passes for the most part). He has also thrown behind the recievers (but DMac has done that a whole lot). I'm comfortable with him if DMac gets hurt. Certainly moreso than with Vick as the primary QB

No change in opinion here. Comfortable with him if DMac gets hurt. After only 2 starts, the jury is still out on him as the starter, and hopefully he'll get better as he sees more action. It's a team game, so a lot depends on the supporting cast that AR and Marty (or whatever team he ends up starting with) put around. If he starts here, well, so far so good.

Reasonably encouraged... he looked quite good yesterday. I was somewhat concerned after he came in during the Panthers game, in what should have been a relatively easy situation, but he has looked pretty good the last couple of games. He hung in during rushes and got passes off, and did some pretty good things the first game, and played well yesterday. The concerns I have are pocket awareness... the pocket never really collapsed yesterday so it was hard to tell if he improved. But no terrible interceptions, which was good. The other concern was escapability... he looks like he can't outrun many people and tends to run backwards, giving him no chance of making an ad-hoc play (spoiled by McNabb greatly there). Once again though, that didn't really happen yesterday so no idea if he improved. Definitely threw behind some receivers and led them into big hits. All things which can be fixed.

Overall... definitely a good backup QB, and probably (with some improvement, which should be expected) a legitimate starting QB. I still want McNabb though

I'm encouraged, but his lack of athleticism still puts a firm ceiling on his potential.

As long as McNabb is injured, I am the biggest Kolb fan in the universe. Anything that keeps TDK off the field.

Kolb has got some potential. I can't see him ever being a star, but if he gets to where he can handle the pressure he will see when he faces good defenses, then he could be starter material for somone.

Kolb proved he could execute the offense. He did well. I think that unless he changes some things though, he will be exposed on film. He ALWAYS taps the ball right before he throws it. Any D-Lineman is going to catch this tell and knock down passes. Also, he throws off his back foot and many times he does it while back pedaling. This will be exposed as well. With that said, he has proven himself as a valuable back-up that could help us win games if called upon in short stints.

I think he's pretty good. When he gets his feet under him, he makes nice throws down the field. Very accurate. Appears to have some good leadership abilities. Needs to work on his movement.

I think that he has shown that he is certainly a qualified NFL backup (a major relief as there were questions there for sure). As for a potential franchise guy, I doubt it. The thing that seperates the men from the boys is when the pocket breaks down-then what? He stil might get another start or two. I wouldn't be in any hurry to get Mac killed with those ribs, and it would give our x and o crazy coach another week or two to have some real fun with Vick inc playing streetball.

This whole things reminds me of a few years ago when we had a good team and our last game of the year was against Cleveland (before Palmer). They had no QB (I forget who he was but he was hurt and so was his backup) so they ran this thing against us and we had a hard time stopping it but still won anyway. I always wondered why nobody tried it again.

I liked Sheldon Brown's quote on Kolb:

"I liked Kevin from the day he got here because I saw what other people didn't see - he came to work every day and put his hard hat on," Sheldon Brown said. "It didn't matter how many fans spit on him or how many people didn't believe he could do the job, he didn't care. He just went out and worked hard every day, and he proved a lot of people wrong."

Kolb definitely was devoured by the fans here prematurely, that is for sure. I think he's at least a backup, with a chance of being a decent starter. His arm is no worse than Eli Manning's...his accuracy on short to intermediate routes - let's just say he makes some throws Donovan can't make or won't make. I'm not saying he's close to Donovan, obviously Mcnabb is the starter. What I really want to see out of Kolb is how he handles a team that puts on consistent pressure...

Kolb needs to continue to be patient. He is the QB of the future.... no doubt about that. And, he has gained some respect in the locker room because he has proven to be tough in the pocket and led them to a win. Hopefully this buys us some time with Kolb because now he can hold his head a little higher in the locker room. I also hope that people are reminding him of the Rob Johnsons, Marc Bulgers, and such... QBs that looked pretty good but on bad teams get pulverized and end up either out of the league or in traction. Bide your time Mr. Kolb. You want to be throwing TDs to Maclin and Jackson in 3 or 4 years, not picking yourself up off the Oakland turf next year after getting squished because you pushed for a trade and ended up a Raider.

He is signed through next year. He is a guy that wants a new CBA because if one isn't reached, he'd be restricted after next year still.
