Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show and talked about the NFL Scouting Combine.

McElroy confirmed he got a 48 on the Wonderlic Test. He said he only filled out 49 of 50 questions. There was a question with the vocabulary words “furtive” and “whimsical” and he didn’t know what either meant.

McElroy said that he’s not worried that scoring so high could be viewed as a negative. “People really do over-analyze the Wonderlic,” McElroy said. “But they wouldn’t give it to us if it didn’t matter.

When asked who has more NFL potential, him or Cam Newton.

“I say me,” McElroy said. “My talent level has a much lower ceiling than Cam. … Five years down the road will he be a more productive player. That remains to be seen.”

This guy doesn't sound like he knows how to tie his shoes. How the hell did he score a 48?

      He used the clock method
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
      Hope is not a strategy

Personally, I like McElroy. He had one hell of a career and absolutely blew away the test. I'm also not at all convinced about Newton, especially after his total clunker in the NCAA Championship game. That being said, that last paragraph was brutal to read. I guess if you are a Wonderlic guy it made perfect sense.
