  • should i buy an ipad for the wife

She loves our Mac but it is getting old.

Would an IPAD be a good fit for us.

We want something to surf the web on. We want something to use for photographs. We want something you can print from.

We need a basic word processor but not anything to extreme.

I would like it to have a USB port and I heard Ipads don't have that.

Also heard you can't print from them.

What can I do with Ipads...what can't I do. The anniversary is Saturday (7 years) and I am thinking about getting her something she will really enjoy. Jon Bon Jovi is married and she is pregnant and bitchy right now anyway so I'm settling on an Ipad.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

MacBook Pro might be a better fit if you want to store photographs and do a lot of typing (JMO).

thats overkill for what he's talking about.

Sounds like last year's model of the macbook would do him fine as soon as the new ones come out. Retailers will be dumping them and you'll get a good deal.

Check EBAY or the Apple Clearance Store for good prices on IPads, IPods, MacBooks, etc.

My wife has the iPad 2 and loves it. She uses it mostly for web browsing, gaming, reading books and magazines, taking notes and emailing them to her coworkers after meetings, and to communicate with me on Facetime when she's traveling.

Apparently you can print from an iPad if you have a wireless printer, or have something called Printopia installed on the iPad. I haven't looked into that one.

Doesn't look like it has a USB port.

An iPad is basically a great big iPhone. The "keyboard" works pretty well, and there are keyboard attachments available too. If she might be doing real computing, Photoshop, etc., you should go with a laptop.
