Pinkston? I honestly can't remember him not going immediately to the turf with the first touch. I remember watching a game at a bar and someone yelled out something to that effect, so I watched from that point on and I don't think I saw him break a single tackle or once put a shoulder down for a couple of extra yards rather than scampering out of bounds.

It's hard to break tackles with that build. The fact is he had no problem going over the middle 98% of the time.

I appreciate your efforts Lief in making your point but honestly, cherry picking a couple of his career highlights isn't going to change my mind. I watched enough of Pinky game in and game out over his time in Philly to see to see that he was a soft player, especially in his last couple of years. Yes he had a nice ypc with the long balls but he was a pussy, which never goes over well in Philly. It wasn't just that one night game against the Redskins,

but a pattern over time. So, we might just agree to disagree on this one.

Todd Pinkston is unfairly remembered as being terrible, when in fact he was a half-decent #2 receiver for a few years. However, 'half-decent #2' isn't much of a case to make for 'all-time underrated'.

Also, with the infamous 'alligator arms' catch, I always thought that Pinkston lost the ball in the lights, rather than pulling up to avoid a hit. If you watch the replay, it makes sense, because that ball lands a good distance away from Pinkston and the defenders.

Honestly, James Thrash might be the more underrated player. In 2001 and 2002 he was pretty good, before a terrible 2003 season.

The thing that drove me nuts about Pinkston were the multiple times McNabb would put him in position to make a play and he would refuse to battle for it. Yeah he was a long ball threat, but he seldom "made plays" when given the opportunity. His speed was missed for a couple of years, but that's about all. He had the one nice year that set up his big contract at the time and then disappointed the hell out of everybody.
