  • Tough fans, tough media??? really?

We get the reputation as being a hard nosed tough fan base. The media has a rep as a tough group as well. But I gotta tell ya, some of those fans and media members are anything but.

Heard a lot of people bashing Reid today because of one of his comments in his PC after the game last night. I was listening live and someone asked..this isn't exact...How many more mistakes does Matthews have to make before looking at changes...or something like that. Reid just replied with something like...are you saying he made mistakes?...Then he said that question was about as bad as we played, let's try another one.

I dont know, seemed pretty tame to me. And once again, it was Reid defending one of his players. Yet today, fans and a couple of media members are up in arms over it. I mean, come on. Toughen up and quit whining.

I wish that asker of that questions to say "Yes he did. On X play he was clearly out of position and was completely irrelevant to the play." I wonder what Arrogant Andy would respond? "Uhhh I won't get into any of that."

The problem with the media is they are scared of Andy and it's a fucking joke around here.

How could he respond to a loaded question like that?

I haven't heard people complaining about the response from Reid, but I did hear the response. I'll just say that Andy was in a bad friggin mood, and with good reason. It was obvious. He said that we STUNK, TWICE. The only mistake I think Andy made there is that he should have said it three times.

I'm glad he was pissed. I would be pissed if he WASN'T.

Instead he chooses to berate the asker of the question for asking a dumb question. Yes, it's a dumb question in the sense that the journalist knows it'll never be answered. But it's a question that everyone wants to know. And you have to ask it in the off chance (.00001%) that it gets answered.

no coach is ever going to call out a player in a press conference. Let alone a rookie.

            it's bad form

all you will ever get is "we didn't play well as a team" and all coaches typically take that upon themselves

when is the media an the fans EVER going to get this?

.....and then AR would get bashed for dodging the question. The media wants it both ways -- give him a hard time if he's blunt, give him a hard time if he talks around things -- and that's not fair. But, well, that's the media.

He dodged the question anyway! But on top of it, he decides to make the reporter look stupid. Is that really necessary?

Everyone who has followed this team for any amount of time knows that nothing gets answered. But it's their job so they ask the questions. Dodge it like usual and it's just par for the course and nobody cares. We all know the game. So why does he have to be a dick to them?

Because he was pissed off, ande press reporters are a bunch of dicks. So, he was just giving it back to them.

Didinger figured this one out pretty quickly. He said that when Reid responds like that, it's because someone has struck a nerve. Big Red knows he has a problem with the linebackers, but doesn't really want to talk about it.

I used to know some girls like that too.

Andy was being a dick to the guy but so-what? It's not like Reid belittled the guy and called him a moron. He asked an angry coach an obvious and stupid question just minutes after a humiliating loss. I'm sure he isn't crying too much over the fact that a coach called his question 'bad'.

As for the people bitching about Reid for this; again, who cares? It's really not a big deal. Let's all grow up a little and stop whining every time someone says anything that doesn't stroke your ego or make you look like a genius (like that Norman Einstein guy).

This is exactly my problem with it. Reid likes to use the media whenever he wants but as soon as someone asks a question that he doesn't like, automatically they're the enemy. And our pussy media is so scared to offend Andy for fear of not getting any of the tiny morsels he throws their way that they never follow up on good questions. Questions that we actually might want answers to.

Reid doesn't want to give the media any info? Fine. But then don't ever use the media (like that fluffy video interview he did last year.)

A better question would have been, "do you have a friekin clue as to how to draft or aquire a decent linebacker. After all, it's been 10 years now"? As for his answer, I can't blame him for not flaming Matthews in public.

I don't think anyone does. That's why players love playing for him. I just think Andy is a bully sometimes with the media and they are too timid to do a thing about it...

And a better answer probably shoul have been. "give the kid more than 3 preseason quarters in a D we keep pretty vanilla"

But the reality is even if he thinks it, he should never bother saying it

All that EVER matters is did we play well and win? Or not?

                              Press conferences are useless
