  • Asante doesn't care so much for Joe and Howie

Some interesting observations from Samuel in this piece from Reuben Frank.
Asante is a bit of a diva but I can't disagree with his comments suggesting
Joe and, especially Howie, have something of a 'Fantasy Football' approach to team building.

I also appreciate his remark about neither of them having ever played football.
I'd be very surprised if, before they joined the Eagles, either Howie or Joe ever got
closer to a football field than the first row of the stands. I suppose it's not absolutely
necessary to have played organized ball in order to judge/evaluate talent but it certainly helps.

Samuel also alludes to his belief that there is a power struglle between AR and Joe/Howie.
Now there's something no one here has EVER suggested! (lol)

Recognizing that he's pissed and lashing out because he feels unwanted, Samuel
is saying some things about the weasel and the ferret that I've believed for awhile.

`Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares. They've probably never played football,'' Samuel said Wednesday. ``It's a business and they run it like a business and they're going to do what they need to do. They're playing with a lot of money, playing fantasy football, doing their thing.''
Asked if he was referring to general manager Howie Roseman and president Joe Banner, Samuel replied: ``Howie and Joe? I don't know, do they fit the comment I made? ``There ya go. You think they're upstairs playing fantasy football with the owner's money?''
Samuel, a four-time Pro Bowl pick, said he doesn't have any problem with coach Andy Reid.

Were they playing fantasy football when they gave him the sacks of money in free agency?

And he's cool with Andy, who has final say over all football decisions. Decisions like bring in Nnamdi and DRC, which make you expendable?

In any event, I don't mind him complaining. It makes sense. And the Eagles have it set up perfectly is he's cool with the coach but mad at the people upstairs, whether it's justified or not. Better for Reid to not be the bad guy.

I thought nobody knows for sure who has final say over all football operations?

Yup. The owners want it both ways. It's a team game until they decide that you're not best for the team. Then it's a business. I'm not sure who is right, but it's sure tough to live by those rules. Not so much for Sammy because in the end he's a millionaire, but for the little guys. Then again, Sammy is the guy on the field all the time so I want him happy. All of this does take the "little kid in me" out of the equation.

I'm not sure who really calls the shots at Novacare. Everyone seems to assume that the FO can't even fart without Reid's stamp of approval. But, other than spoken words for the public, they have no real evidence to back that up.

There could very well be a power struggle under way. Roseman sure seems to be the kind of young hot-shot executive that would step on anyone he needed to in order to gain power. Reid included. But, who really knows?

Personally, I think Asante should just shut the hell up and play football. Quit whining about being on the trading block. Be a freakin man. You are the highest paid guy at a loaded position on a team with other needs. You also have the biggest contract. Putting you up for trade in order to get help elsewhere is not fantasy football. They're just trying to do what they think is best for the team. I'm sure they want you out of town so bad they put a premium price on you, and that's why you are still here.

So, stick a sock in it, and do your fu'cking job.

Boohoohooo. The eagles got calls about Asante and considered them. How the he'll is that disrespect? Did he miss how much they asked for to trade him? I mean, they obviously value him

If Asante could just tackle and not be such a liability in the run game, teams would give anything for him

He's a bit of a free lancer and the turnovers are great. But how much is that worth in today's NFL?

I'd be shocked if this isn't Asantes last year in philly

He really is a whiny little bitch. As others have said he's afraid to tackle. And when he does he either gets hurt (like last game) or gets flagged because he never learned proper technique. They are keeping primarily zone coverage for the CBs which neutralizes Asomugha's elite potential to suit Samuel, who was signed as the most expensive db in the NFL (and maybe defensive player?). And he's not even getting the pics he used to but is still getting burned deep. Shut up and nut up, you bitch.
