Their defense is an absolute mess. Flip this game on and watch. Edelman is out there on defense.

Their defense is smoke and mirrors. I hope Vick comes back cause a 5 year old could confuse Vince Young.

Keep Brady in check and you can win that game.

Funny, last night I was thinking that Vince Young looked less confused than Vick.

If Julian Edelman grew long locks I would swear it's Casey Matthews out there. He may be better.

That's cause you only remember 18 plays.

Vick's had a tough year but he's better than Young.

The problem for Hard Worker Juan's defense has been cited repeatedly...New England's 2 excellent pass catching TEs. On the other hand their pass D is lousy and run D not a whole lot better. Pat's O line also looking very porous.

And in a related story, it's now Half Time and Chris Berman, who used to be entertaining in a previous century, has again confirmed his standing as one of the 3 biggest assholes in the Northern Hemisphere. Dan Patrick, who has one of the very few sports talk shows worth listening to, must really despise Berman. He's not a mean spirited guy, but looks for every opportunity to break Berman's balls, often by mimicking grating voice

oh every week i hope for Chris Berman to drop dead.

              But back to the Pats...

yeah I forgot about their whole our TE is all world thing. Maybe we could put all 3 LBs on Gronkowski and play 8 on 10.

Ok, so explain to me why Vince Young didn't seem to get hit at all in that game but when Vick plays he seems to get crushed on every play? Did our O-Line all of a sudden become all world or does Vick hang to the ball to long and then run around and get himself killed.

Young seems so tall that he can see the whole field, while Vick looks tiny.

I'm not saying that Young is better than Vick but I do think Vick has regressed since last year.

Vick definitely has regressed. I thought you were remarking on VY being able to read a defense better than Vick. He cannot. And he was pretty bad to awful most of the game.

Vince Young= Tim Tebow. Both are horrid pocket QB's who seem to have that will to win in the 4 Qtr. TT seems brighter than Young though which isn't saying much since a brick seems smarter than Young. I wouldn't want either one to be a long term answer at QB for the Eagles.

This is what I was saying when Vick was getting beat up and people were blaming the Line. Vick has always taken punishment all the way back to VT. It's the way he plays that gets him killed.

Vick gets hit b/c he holds the ball looking for the big play. This year teams are figuring that out and that is one of our issues. VY had several short passes that are there when Vick is playing but he either does not see them through the line or chooses to hold and wait. You dink and dunk enough and those big passes will open again. look at how Celek was used in recent weeks and the scoring success we've realized.

In the game against Dallas Vick did a lot of the underneath short passing. He CAN do it.

IMO the Patriots will look to exploit Asante Samuel, especially if he decides to freelance and play off of his man.

                              per McLane, philly.com:
"...Man-to-man defense doesn't necessarily require cornerbacks to press at the line, but it helps. Nnamdi Asomugha made his name playing this way. His counterpart at corner, Asante Samuel, made his bones playing off receivers. Samuel can play up at the line, but that's usually to just bump receivers and then let them run into the zone with the safety over top.
This will be Samuel's first meeting against his former team since he left in 2008. His distaste for New England coach Bill Belichick is well-documented. Samuel is going to want to do his thing, but he should swallow his pride and man up. He can do it if he wants.
Samuel can handle receiver Deion Branch on outside and let Asomugha shadow Welker (74 catches for 1,028 yards) in the slot when he lines up at flanker. The issue for the Eagles will be covering tight ends Rob Gronkowski (56 catches for 805 yards and 10 touchdowns) and Aaron Hernandez (41 catches for 418 yards)..."

If McLane's contention that Samuel would like to upstage his former team because of Belichick is correct, then the Pats may seek to take advantage of this. Samuel's MO is the pick, so I can see him playing off of his man. Hopefully the gameplan dictates that he plays man coverage when instructed to.
