  • (OT)PFT: Burfict Failed Drug test at Combine?

What a spectacular fall...unless this too is a pre-draft uhh...smokescreen. Seen a mock that had him going to the Ravens in the 7th rd.

You have to try real hard to fall as far as this kid has. From top 20 to realistically undrafted.

The other guy reported, CB Hosley(VaTech) is a guy the Birds had in for a visit. We'll see how far he drops in the draft.
Just give me ONE before I go!

if he falls to the 6th or 7th round, I'd burn a pick on him. He had top 10 talent with an undrafted brain. Its possible he can turn it around and I'd spend a pick to give it a shot.

But but.... he's working hard to overcome his bad reputation, according to Sports Illustrated.

If you're too fucking stupid to keep it in your pants for 4 months, you don't deserve a spot on a team. Why take the risk? Money is gonna make him less of an asshole?

              Vin,

I think maybe you need to reexamine your approach to dubage storing and consumption. The guys at the Cigar Club may not be the best people to get advice from.

I roll it in tin foil and store it down there. The ladies love it.

I would take Burfict in a minute in round 6 if he is available. I bet he won't be.

When you turn on the tape, he makes plays. Don't ask me how, but at ASU he made some very violent, jarring hits. He could be another Charles Haley.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

You figure someone will take a chance. I have seen some comments from ASU fans that, despite all the plays he made, they were always waiting for the personal foul at a critical moment which would really damage the team -- he didn't quite learn to play under control. [16 personal fouls in his last 26 games.] When he dialed it back this last year, he was bad to the point he was benched.

Here is another article on him, which tries to explain some of it (sounds like he knows he screwed up the combine):

But if this drug thing is true, that means he doesn't know how to avoid a drug test when he knows it's coming -- yet another really bad sign, and one that can start costing him games in the NFL very quickly.

So if we put it in dollars, how much do you guys think he cost himself?

The new NFL deal basically sets a tiered salary for players. Last year's 20th pick was Adrian Clayburn for TB and he got a 4yr 8.2M contract. I don't know how much of that was guaranteed. So, assuming he was ranked as a top 20 prospect, this seems to be a representative number. It is safe to say his past 12 month's cost him retirement by age 25.

This is my point. He has no self control. I like weed as much as the next guy but tell me I can't smoke for a while and be a multi millionaire and I'm a choirboy.

He'll be there in the 6th round, and he'll be a FA at the end of the draft. He's capable of big plays, but he was so drugged up he reminded me of Mike Tyson tweeds the end of his career. He was mostly very ineffective when he played last season. He'll probably end up on a team someplace, but definitely not in Philly.

Burfict said today that the Eagles and Browns were the only two teams besides the Bengals who expressed interest in him after the draft.
