  • The coaching staff

Really don't have a strong opinion on most but I want Mudd and Marty long gone. There is only person I would really like to see stay and that is Duce. I think he has a future as a coach in this league but I fear he will be going with Andy if the chance arises
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

Mudd is retiring again. I would be surprised if the new coach kept anybody on the current staff. He will bring in his guys.

A guy like Juan Castillo who was on Rhodes' staff and convinces Reid to keep him on -- that's the exception, not the rule.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

I could see the incoming coach being interested in keeping Duce working with McCoy tho. I'd be nice, but yep, Duce will probably head wherever Andy wants him, IF Andy wants him.

I don't think anybody on that Staff will be retained. The New Coach will & should be allowed to bring in his own guys. As for Duce, he's been working with Bryce Brown all year right? WTF on those fumbling issues?
Just give me ONE before I go!

          Agreed.

As for Duce, nobody here has any idea how good or bad a coach he is, so I can't comment on whether or not I would like him to stay or not. But the bottom line is the problems are mainly on D, assuming health.

I think that's why Reid was so successful early in his career. He was in the "assistant's loop". He went right after Childress, and knew of JJ. I guess that was true of Juan too. I think you lose those types of contacts as you grow older and are a HC for awhile.

As for Juan, if you remember he interviewed for a few OC jobs and head college spots before he was made DC here. I think part of why Andy made him DC is that he thought that he might lose him. I'll bet Juan would be a real good college HC. He knows the game and is a taskmaster. I wouldn't be surprised if he landed a job at the Division II level or even the one of the lesser D I schools.

The one thing about Duce is every time they showed him on the sidelines he was showing some emotion. Now that is good sometimes and that is bad. But it looked like he had the ear of the players. I saw several times he was talking with Bryce Brown. Keeping Duce around might make some sense. Other than that I am not sure who else. I mean Carmichael stays because he was not part of Rieds staff. Maybe you keep Doug Peterson to help mentor Nick Foles, then again maybe they clean out the entire house.

Couple of sideline shots really doesn't tell me anything at all about Duce as a coach. Don't get me wrong I like Duce, met him while he was at college, but I just don't know enough to put any kind of value on his coaching ability. New HC gets (I hope) full control over staff so who knows.

Per Eskin, Staley will not be released from his Eagles contract:

Looks like Duce is like Harold Carmichael and more of a front office rep than coach.

Good, I am glad to see him stay. I agree no one knows how good a coach Duce is in the trenches but, as TAZ said, he was the only one showing any action on the sidelines a number of times. He was involved while others looked stunned. I also read where McCoy and Brown both spoke highly of him. And I think his work with Brown may have helped his fumbling since he appears to begetting a better handle on it.
I don't know for sure just as no one knows for sure-- just throwing out that I saw CRAP from Marty and Mudd so I would rather see them gone while I saw engagement from a young guy (Duce) who I would like to see stay. I have a feeling he has the fire to want to succeed.

Marty Mo is not invited to join Big Red in KC apparently.

We all love Duce, but NoDak, how are you figuring those fumbling issues of Brown are better? It's tough to fumble from the bench. I think the Birds have just moved on to Deon Lewis and have realized, at least for now, that Brown simply can't be trusted.

I don't think that's the case Popper. Reid said before the last game that Brown was banged up and he (Reid) was disappointed that he wouldn't be able to use him because he needs more experience to learn how to hold onto the ball.
