Jason Peters clears up drag racing charges


Jason Peters paid a fine of $656.50 on June 21 after drag racing charges he accrued a week earlier were reduced to driving with improper equipment and resisting an officer by flight, according to the Monroe, La. district attorney's office, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The Eagles tackle avoided a July 15 arraignment by paying the fine, and the case was officially closed, the DA's office said on Wednesday.

Attempts to reach Peters were not successful. He is expected to report to Eagles training camp next Thursday with the rest of the full squad.

That's good to hear! It is to be hoped that he has put that stuff behind him. His misbehavior paled in comparison to some of the 'hijinks' other NFL players have engaged in this Spring and Summer.

Truth be told, I did a bit of drag racing and running (driving) from the cops when I was about his age. Of course, I wasn't jeopardizing a multimillion dollar career.

I agree Steve. But with all the crap that's been going down with guns lately both in the nfl and with zimmerman I think it helped Peters dodge a bullet in this case.
